Spring Four Ball Qualifying Quarter-Finals
The Spring FourBall continues. The quarter-final matches have been played. One match went the distance as Joe Tassone and Shawn Seitz edged out Dan Williams and David Brickman on the 19th hole. The other 3 matches produced some lopsided results. Medalists Dan Brennan & Steve Keegan and the team of Rob Justice & Bill McAlduff advanced in dominating fashion, wining 6&4. The team of Tom Harvey & Jack Finlayson were equally impressive winning their quarter-final match by a 5 & 4 margin.

The four winning teams have advanced to the semi-finals. The four losing teams will compete in the consolation flight.

Ladies Division News:
On Tuesday, the Ladies Division had their Opening Scramble and Luncheon. The event was shortened to 9 holes due to the weather. The team of Linda Picceri, Dot Finlayson, Doris McManus and Cynthia Provost shot a scramble score of 43 to edge the team of Dianne Champagne, Pat Bianco, Dottie Stevens, and Sue Bush by a single stroke. The golf was followed by a delicious luncheon served by Patty and Molly.

The Ladies Division has now officially kicked off their season. Events are played every Tuesday morning throughout the golf season. If you are one of the ladies (of any golfing level) who have not yet joined the fun on the Tuesday mornings, you are always welcomed any time. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board in the ladies locker room. For more information, you can contact Joan Small, Eileen Flanagan, or simply call the Pro Shop.

Remember, all tournament results are posted on the club website, lexingtongc.com.

June 7th & 8th - Men’s Senior Championship
36 holes of Net medal play in 2 divisions. 55-64 yrs and 65+ years. We also recognize a super senior champion who is over 75 years.

New last year we crowned the player who turned in the 36 hole low gross score as the LGC Senior Club Champion. We never had a championship to identify our best Senior player, so adding this to the ranks of LGC Club Champions (Men’s, Women’s, and Junior) seemed overdue. Peter Scully won the inaugural event firing a 2 day total 152 (74-78) for a 6 stroke victory over runner-up Paul Caruso.

. . . A REMINDER FROM LAST WEEKS NEWSLETTER (in case you missed it.)
“IN THE INTEREST OF ALL, PLAYERS SHOULD PLAY WITHOUT DELAY! If a match fails to keep pace and there is one clear hole in front, it MUST allow the match following to play through.” (from page 62 in the LGC Policy and Procedures 2014)

“Play at Good Pace and Keep Up"
Players should play at a good pace. The Committee may establish pace of play guidelines that all players should follow. (Here at LGC that pace is under 4 hours!). It is a group's responsibility to keep up with the group in front. If it loses a clear hole and it is delaying the group behind, it should invite the group behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players in that group.”
(from the U.S.G.A. Riles of Golf)

Please remember, when it comes to inviting faster groups to play through, simple common courtesy dictates it, the USGA rules of etiquette recommends it, and our very own LGC policies and procedures demands it.

Please allow faster players to play through.

Bag Tags Now Available
Please note, 2014 member bag tags have arrived. It is time to update your old bag tag. Some of you may have lost your old one, or in some cases, never received one when you joined the club. In any event, you can pick up your new personalized bag tag in the Pro Shop.

Also available for pick up in the Pro Shop are the Ouimet Scholarship bag tags for those members who have generously donated to that program through LGC.

     Check Your Grips
This is the perfect time to check the condition of your grips. The dry winter months has undoubtedly taken its toll on them. Whether stored in the house, garage, or even worse yet, your car trunk, most grips are ready for replacement after the winter. I see many golfers who try to get some extended play with old worn out grips. Sometimes grip wear is hard to detect because it can be so gradual. The fact is, once the grips have worn out, more grip pressure is required to keep the club from slipping in your hands. This added grip pressure increases tension in the swing and does not allow for the proper release (rotation) of the hands and clubhead. Grip replacement . . . it might just be the first step in curing that dreaded slice!

There are some awesome new grips available this year. So bring your clubs by the shop sometime for a FREE grip evaluation. If new grips are in order, we can get them installed in 1 day.

Bridgestone also has spring promotions going on now! Check out the program details below and contact me to take advantage of these great offers.
