2-Day Member-Guest Champions
Dan Brennan and Don Higley

The play-off format to determine the Overall Champions is Foursome Stroke Play (Alternate Shot). The first playoff hole serves as an elimination hole. 2 teams are eliminated and 3 teams advance to the 9th hole where sudden death begins. Advancing, we had Dan Brennan & Don Higley, Mike & Eddie Keegan, and Chris Messer & Scott DiMella. The 2 teams that were eliminated found their trouble in different ways. Third Flight winners Laurendeau & DiGeronimo had their difficulty off the tee and could not recover. Fifth Flight winners Seitz & McGillivray, once on the green found themselves above the hole and wound up 3 putting.

All the advancing teams made a mess of the 9th hole. Brennan/ Higley with trouble off the tee and eventually over the green in the bunker; Keegan/ Keegan from short right of the green near the bunker and eventually long left on the greenside slope, and Messer/ DiMella, also short, in the rough halfway up the hill to the green and eventually over the green and in the bunker. The lesson to be learned from this play-off is, do not get above the hole on #9 and definitely do not go OVER the green! After the dust had settled, team Brennan/ Higley and team Keegan/ Keegan somehow managed to stay alive in the play-off with matching 6’s as team Messer/ DiMilla failed to convert their putt for 6 and were eliminated. For the first time since this play-off format was instituted, the sudden death advanced once again to hole #1. After both teams drove in perfect position, team Keegan missed the green right and failed to get the ball up and down for par. Dan Brennan and Don Higley who had hit the green in 2 then safely 2 putted to secure the Championship, . . . giving them a reason for an even bigger smile!

Ladies Division News:
The ladies Member-Member was played last week. Because of scheduling conflicts, the tournament was reduced to 18 holes. Pat Bianco and Lisa Brown came out on top with a score of 69 (-3). Placing 2nd was the team of Eileen Flanagan and Maureen Foster with a round of even par 72. Dianne Champagne and Linda Picceri rounded out the top scoring with a 75 (+3), good for 3rd place. Congratulations to all the winners.

Golf Course News:
Scheduled small tine aeration will be done on the greens on Monday, June 30th. This helps break up any thatch build up and will help get air into the soil. With a light topdressing and rolling, it will be hard to notice the aeration holes after a day or two.
