Greetings from Bellville Friday, April 26, 2024

The team is now complete

No business can be successful without having the appropriate people in place to drive its objectives. In this respect, the golf club is no different. The club's business model has changed significantly over the last couple of years. There has been a move to a monthly payment mechanism, the halfway house and the development of a conference facility to name but a few, are all in-house now.

We are confident that Werner with Ronel and Verlisha and all the support personnel will take the club forward and improve our brand even further. In the next couple of weeks we will give some more information regarding some strategic initiatives that is currently being driven by the team with support from the committee. I would like to encourage you to contact Werner for any concern, suggestion or question you might have. The brand of Bellville Golf Club is vested in this team.

Kind regards,
Andre’ Uys
Captain

Tree planting project

Thank you to Tobie Le Roux for donating the new tree planted behind the 16th green.

Golf Data also donated the 4 newly planted trees on the 15th hole.

Halfway House

It has been a year since the club has taken the halfway house in-house again. We would like to congratulate and thank Ronel, Werner and the rest of the team for the effort that was put in to make this the success it is.

Unfortunately, it is that time of year that we have to implement our increases. As you would know, food and ingredient prices have gone up much higher than what the stated inflation rate is. However, Ronel has done a lot of effort to ensure that our increases are as sustainable as possible. The increases will be effective from August 1.

Collect your card

We recently launched the new (black) handicap cards and most golfers have collected and activated the new card. However, there are still some golfers who are using the old (grey) handicap card. It is urgent that you collect your new handicap card from your club, as the old cards will be deactivated at the end of July 2016.

From 1 August 2016, only the new (black) cards will work on the handicap terminals.

If, for some reason, you are not able to collect your new handicap card by 1 August 2016, you will still be able to access the handicap system using your manual login details on the handicap terminal, mobile phone app and the website.

Your club will be able to locate your login details under the 'Accounts' – 'My Players' section of the club administration website.

Rule 30
Three-Ball, Best-Ball and Four-Ball Match Play

30-1 General

The Rules of Golf, so far as they are not at variance with the following specific Rules, apply to three-ball, best-ball and four-ball matches.

30-2 Three-Ball Match Play

a) Ball at Rest Moved or Purposely Touched by an Opponent
If an opponent incurs, a penalty stroke under Rule 18-3b, that penalty is incurred only in the match with the player whose ball was touched or moved. No penalty is incurred in his match with the other player.

b) Ball Deflected or Stopped by an Opponent Accidentally
If a player’s ball is accidentally deflected or stopped by an opponent, his caddie or equipment, there is no penalty. In his match with that opponent the player may, before another stroke is made by either side, cancel the stroke and play a ball, without penalty, as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5) or he may play the ball as it lies. In his match with the other opponent, the ball must be played as it lies.

Exception: Ball striking person attending or holding up flagstick or anything carried by him – see Rule 17-3b.
(Ball purposely deflected or stopped by opponent – see Rule 1-2)

Your muscles will struggle to contract with enough force to stabilise and power-up your swing if they’re tight, rigid and unengaged. That’s why maintaining normal length in the muscles of your upper leg is important.

Flexibility’s role in a stable swing
When your muscles are well conditioned (supple and strong) they not only allow for fluid movement of the joints, but also strong contractions that produce power. This improves the likelihood of having a stable, consistent swing you can rely on.

Here are some stretches and exercises that will help you improve your power and strength. Read more.

This kind of supplemental training is not reserved for the Pros. Any golfer can benefit from golf-specific physical conditioning training.
Come and speak with us.

High MOI Putters resist twisting. That’s especially important when you strike the ball towards the heel or toe. And most golfers, as soon as a putt is longer than 20 feet are inclined to become quite inconsistent in finding the sweet spot. Here’s a great way to measure your performance.

Remember this is the best your going to do because you’ll be really concentrating on hitting the sweet spot in this exercise

Concentration and intensity, fitting, and technique, all have an impact on your ability to consistently find the sweet spot on your Putter. If you’re struggling, then contact us and ask us to sprinkle the magic dust over your game! It’s called a putting assessment and fitting on our website. But they’re both the same thing. A high MOI Putter maybe the easiest fix, but there may be other solutions. Contact us.
