As we edge into August and even closer to summer, the planning and preparation for spring treatment is well underway. This will see the greens receive the usual tining and treatments to put us on a stronger footing for the upcoming season. The tees, surrounds and fairways are also programmed for a hollow tining and granular fertiliser.
The lowering of the surrounds is ongoing with the team currently working on the 3rd surround, which leaves the 1st, 4th and 5th to be completed. For the month of July the 2nd, 9th, 13th and 18th have been finished and are being grown in. Once the surrounding project is completed the team will move to the bunker project, which will start on the 8th and mirror the concept from the test bunker on the 6th (green side – right-hand side).
Rainfall:
• July 49.5 mm.
• Year to date 199 mm.
• Last year rainfall to this period 361mm.
With the low rainfall for the winter season the top irrigation dam is yet to overflow as we move into August.
Hollowtining has been changed from the 28, 29 & 30th July 2017 to 4, 5 and 6 August 2017.

Features of TaylorMade Midsize Mallet Putter Black & Red
The midsize mallets made famous by Jason Day (red) and then Dustin Johnson (black) are all about stability. The putterhead has 13 pieces, including a heavy steel frame that bolsters the hollow aluminum body. There are two roll-enhancing insert options: Surlyn for a softer feel and milled aluminum for a sharper click.
The one exception would be the Spider design that uses an ultra-high MOI shape to enable even the nerviest of players to get it in the hole from close range.
The insert on the Tour Red is made from a soft surlyn, which compromises the feel a little, but the firmer Pure Roll 80/20 polymer insert on the Tour Black model is better than previous TaylorMade inserts and just passes muster.
