After some very quiet days over the past few weeks, the Met was rocking on Women’s Day – every single tee time time taken….. great to see! Patricia de Lille also graced the fairways with Sally Little which was nice to see. With the water-crisis now a daily debate, our Club’s relationship with the City of Cape Town is more important than ever – we hope the Mayor had a good day out!
The PGA Championship kicked off last night, and I always try to watch the different players and see what parts of their game/swing we can learn from.
Hideki Matsuyama is a major champion in waiting. He is only 25 years old and seems to be in contention every week. After shooting 61 in the last round at Firestone, I’m sure his confidence is sky-high, but can he keep the momentum going?
One of the interesting things he does in his swing is pause at the top, especially with the driver. This is a great drill to do to ensure that you complete your backswing. So many of us are starting the downswing before we’ve even completed our turn going back.
Watch Matsuyama this weekend and try pausing at the top of your backswing when you’re warming up in the nets or taking a practice swing. If you feel like you’re getting a bit quick on the course, take a few practice swings just like Hideki – it will slow everything down.
Get in touch and let me help you improve your game.

| It’s about introducing them to a healthy, outdoor, social activity that they can enjoy for the rest of their life. You’re doing it for them at an age when they’ll master the golf swing so much easier than they would later in life. Allow them to grow into the game. Don’t pressure them to become the next superstar. | | | | |
