We’re looking to improve our communication with all of our golfers, and this email represents a start.
 
  We’ll include encouragement, and hopefully some inspiration, with the intention of helping as many of you as possible onto a pathway to better golf.

We’ll add our expert view on equipment. Not advertising, but real thoughts on who’ll benefit most from a piece of equipment, and how it delivers it’s benefits.  

We’ll occasionally add a very short survey. The purpose of these will always be for us to learn, and to encourage you to express your views. And don’t wait. If you have thoughts, contributions, criticisms, please feel free to reach out in any of the ways available, including coming into the club and chatting with us.

 We’ll also keep you up to date
with last-minute opportunities or updates
If there are spaces available, fields are full, delays, closures, special events, we’ll keep you updated and posted with simple alerts and updates on our social feeds.
 
  So, best wishes for the next months. And let’s see how many of you we can help to hit better golf shots more often. The quickest route to more fun on a golf course.  



Happiness is...
After 9256 rounds our Cappie managed to get his first hole-in-one , the face says it all. Craig managed to hole out on the 5th on Wednesday 28th June. He used his driver for the 129 meters [joking], it was a little 7 iron and it was witnessed by our greenkeeper Tony Tucker and his assistant Damon, otherwise no one would have believed him.

Baie geluk, Craig. Below our President Mike Rose hands over the certificate. Patrick Hofmeyr’s face also appeared, I think that’s the closest he will get to a hole-in-one.



  Whisky & Lucky Draw
There will be a whisky & lucky draw this Friday. R1200-00 SA rand will be up for grabs, Abe will be selling the raffles and Maggie is making lekker soup for our faithfuls. See you all there.

Friday's Competition
We will be having a comp this Friday, Individual Stableford, comp fee is R20.  Our next Par 3 competition will be on the 14 July , weather permitting We will also have Laborie wine farm doing a tasting on the 14th

Progress to date:

Hole number 2
• Stone rip rap to irrigation pond on the fairway side to be completed and then green base to be constructed
• Imported material to create mounding behind 2 green to commence shortly

Hole number 3
• Green complete and surrounds sodded
• Mounding right of green to be completed
• Top soiling to landing area to be completed

Hole number 10
• Green has been mowed once.

Hole number 11
• 3 x tees leveled and sodded

Hole number 12
• Shaping of fairway complete
• Fairway and green irrigation complete
• Green shaped and drainage installed

• Fairway-shaping in tee vicinity and tee-shaping complete

• Green surrounds shaping ongoing

General
• New engineered attenuation wall complete (mounding and landscaping to follow). On receipt of engineers letter of approval the old attenuation wall in the vicinity 14 first landing area and 16 tees will be removed and reshaped to blend with fairway.
• Mounding to right of 13 fairway with imported soil 50%
• A total of 40,000m3 of imported soil has been placed to date.
• Rip rap to irrigation pond complete with exception of fairway 2 side.
• Pump house constructed and roof cast - transfer of pumps to occur as soon as props can be removed from roof slab
• Irrigation substantially complete with exception of wiring and solenoids (to avoid theft thereof) and where earthworks are incomplete (13, 16 greens and 14/16 fairways).

During a lull between the speeches at the recent presidential swearing-in ceremony, Melania Trump leaned over to chat with the Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.

"You know, I bought Donald a parrot for Christmas. That bird is so smart, Donald has already taught him to pronounce over two hundred words!"

"Wow, that's pretty impressive," said Tillerson, "but, you do realize that he just speaks the words...he doesn't really understand what they mean."
