On Sunday we saw the Bridge Fund Junior Series being played at the Benoni Country Club.

The course was in superb condition for the event and local talent Ryan Van Velzen was again on fire. After carding a 69 gross over the 18 hole event, Van Velzen found himself tied for the top spot with Victoria Country Club golfer, Nikhil Gopal. The two youngsters entered a sudden death play off and after 4 very exciting holes, bad light stopped play. Ryan was awarded the top honours on count-out from his fellow golfer Gopal. The Bridge Fund Series is played over 18 events, where the winners of each event play in the finals standing a chance to win a trip to play golf in the USA. Fortunately for both players, the sponsors arranged that they would both be allowed to compete in the final due to the tie. Congratulations to the local boy Ryan Van Velzen!

There are many variables that impact on the backspin created at impact.
Understanding some simple physicshelps us to get to the right combination of
launch angle, ball speed, and spin rate to add 20+ metres to your tee shot.

What if I told you that in many cases, fat or thin contact, or a swing-path-club-face-relationship
creating a fade or slice, can be traced to poor posture with incorrect bend and tilt at address?

Kellie Stenzel, in a Golf.com instruction video, aimed at golfers with an inclination to hit fat iron shots,
goes straight to your posture and upper body bend at setup, as a major cause of this problem.
Watch the video now with a good tip for an in-round checkup you can continually make.

Stenzel has a good tip in her video, but the question is, if you were asked to pull a Driver, and then a hybrid,
and then a #7 iron out of your bag and set up correctly each time; would you have the knowledge of the
key check points to a good setup?
Not sure?
