Well done to our ladies league teams!

The have performed very well so far this season. We entered two teams and our ladies in the Shiraz group is sitting on top of the log and our ladies in the Chenin log is in 2nd place. Well done ladies, keep up the good work and keep flying the De Zalze flag, we are proud of you. Click here for the log and results.

We would also like to congratulate Francois le Roux on his ranking as the number one Senior golfer in South Africa. We are tremendously proud of your efforts, Francois, and as always we will be keeping an eye on your results. You are a great ambassador for De Zalze Golf Club.

I find it hard to believe that our De Zalze Classic has come and gone. I think it is fair to say that the event was a great success and that everyone involved had a great time. I would like to thank every single person that went above and beyond to make this such a great event. Our staff worked tirelessly to ensure that every golfer was looked after. The long hours and time put in was well worth it. Thank you to Guy and his team for preparing a golf course that was not just challenging, but also in great condition. The feedback we have had about the course is great and the hard work we did a month ago is paying off.

I would also like to give a special mention to Clive, Joe, Leone and Madri. You guys know how to put an event together and I am already looking forward to planning next year's event with all of you.

I can't remember being part of an event where the prizes were so good. From the meat and wine, through to the Callaway drivers and wine on Saturday, I can honestly say that all prize winners left here with fantastic prizes. This event is a good reminder of how special this club is and how well you, our members, support us. We managed to capture some great pictures on Saturday and have added them into our communication this week. Thank you all for supporting such a good cause and great event.

Please note that we are planning to renovate the practice Green bunker, utilizing a different technology to limit erosion of greens.

The scheduled works will proceed as from the 21st of May and will take an estimated 7 days to complete. Beyond this the surrounding sods will remain GUR, but the bunker itself will continue being open for use.

Wine Ambassador month of May: Ken Forrester Wines
Thank you to Ken Forrester for supporting us with special promotional wines for the month, as well as presenting member tastings on certain Wednesdays. Moreover, they are giving away a glass of Rose for all mothers attending our Mother’s Day Lunch on 13 May.

We are already fully booked for this event, but be sure to join us for a tasting of Ken Forrester Wines on 25 May again.

This time of the year is a good time to make sure your equipment is still in good condition. Take some time to come to the Pro Shop and do a free equipment check with either Francois or Pierre. We will be able to check if your equipment either needs an upgrade, or just some maintenance.

When I refer to maintenance, I mean that we can check if the grips are still fine or if your lie angles are out. Do some of you even know what your lie angles should be? Or if you have enough layers on your grips? We will be able to assist with this and help you make good decisions about your equipment. Your journey to better golf starts with good advice from an expert.

The perfect gift for Mother’s Day… Or simply spoil yourself!
We have the option between Srixon's limited edition Lady Passion Pink Ball, their softest ever ball the UltiSoft and the famous Soft Feel.

Just R200 per dozen and limited stock available. Come to the shop before they roll out, or reserve yours now by clicking here.

Another Sundowner Success!

We absolutely love these sundowner events, the vibe is always great with amazing live music and an even better view of the sun setting in the Winelands. We are also privileged to see some great (and some not so great) shots off the veranda. If you are one of those “not so great” shots, don’t worry. Just get in touch with Murray or Abrie and they will get you to hit the green every time from 50 metres out!

Congratulations Lizel Bekker for winning the lucky draw on the day! We will get in touch with you to organize your 30 minutes session on our Flightscope with one of our Professionals.

Speaking of Flightscope, we believe understanding your swing and knowing what causes those bad shots is the first step towards improving your game. So if you would like to understand your “numbers” better or simply just want to know exactly how far you hit each club, this technology is for you! We are running a “Teaching with technology” special this May, for only R700 you get to spend 1 hour with one of our Professionals on the Flightscope, even better is that we can do it indoors or outside, no more will rainy days keep us from helping you play better golf.

Get in touch!

This is what Flightscope is all about:

If you’re a moderate swing speed golfer, you still want a golf ball to offer
you performance everywhere, with no compromises.

The Srixon AD333 Tour is specifically designed
to give you distance off the tee, stable ball flight in windy conditions, stopping power on approach shots,
check and control around the green, and all
with the feel the best golfers demand.

This is a premium performance golf ball without the premium price. If you’re a regular golfer,
playing probably a 2-pce golf ball, then trial a sleeve of the Srixon AD333 Tour.
Check the all-round performance, but especially note the greenside spin.

We’re trying to help you make more 3’s on the Par 3’s.
Better decision-making is going to improve your scores.

Despite the increased amount of GPS data available, regular and inexperienced golfers still,
on the majority of occasions, come up short.

Even when a golfer knows the “yardage” on each of their clubs,
their misses are mostly short.

Simple Tip #2
Why are you expecting the perfect golf shot? What is your level of consistency?

 If there’s no trouble behind
the green, then ignore the
distance to the flag, and pick a
club that, when struck well,
will get you to the back of
the green. That way a less
than perfect ball strike has
a chance of getting to
the green. Rarely do even
good ball strikers
make perfect contact.

Where are the majority of your misses on all approach shots?
Would aiming for the back of the green (assuming no trouble behind the hole)
be a course management strategy that would improve your whole round?
Improving your performance on Par 3’s will probably increase your enjoyment
throughout the round. Think about improvement. If we can help,
