I hope you have had a great start to 2018 and that this year you hit lots of fairways and make more birdies! The good news is that the Golf Season starts this week with the SA Open at Glendower GC. The star studded field, which includes Ernie Els, Charl Schwartzel, Mike Weir and Brandon Grace, is sure to make this a great spectacle.

Look out for a good performance from Brandon Stone, who is itching to play after quite a long layoff, as well as from young Matt Saulez (son of Trevor Saulez and ex member and resident) who made it through the Pre-Q.

Some of my favourite quotes from Homer Kelly (author of The Golfing Machine)

On learning to swing better:

“Don’t turn away because the truth looks too complex. Stay with it a while and you’ll soon find it all very helpful and comfortable. After all, complexity is far more acceptable and workable than mystery is.”

and

“Demanding that golf instruction be kept simple does not make it simple – only incomplete and ineffective”

Love it!

Everyone has at least one hole that
spoils the card or round too often.

If it’s a long Par 4, for most of us,
it’s usually not the tee shot that causes us the challenge.

The approach shot often requires a long iron / hybrid.

Imagine you’ve hit the perfect shot.
Now just three simple questions.

Operation 36: A shot to Master

If your handicap is 15 or above, then review your performance and technique on this shot.
It’s the short-pitch shot (between 15 - 50 metres). For most golfers, a 27 - 55 metre shot.
If you’re taking 3 or less to get down from here, every time, then your handicap should be dropping.
It’s worth investing some time and effort into improving and practising your technique.
