Successful Member-Member tournament
Firstly, as I mentioned in my presentations over the weekend, we would never have had such a wonderful weekend if it was not for the wonderful sponsorship from Carl Grobler at Imperial George. Carl, once again, on behalf of Oubaai GC and the members, a huge THANK YOU!

It turned out to be a wonderful weekend of golf, friendship and food at Oubaai. The launch of the new Jaguar E Pace was the prelude to the tournament. This was followed by some golf in the wind on Saturday, a heart-warming potjie dinner in the evening with some great live music and golf in beautiful sunny calm conditions on Sunday. The ground staff worked very hard on Saturday morning to prepare the course to an excellent standard. Thank you to Rohan and the team for all their efforts! An even bigger thank you to all those members who supported the tournament and the weekends’ events.

It turned out to be a real family affair for the winners…

Congratulations to the Mens Division winners, Hasie and Tiaan Lamprecht and to the Ladies Division winners, Elmien van Niekerk and Chriselda Lamprecht.

We hope the players in the Member-Member tournament over the weekend had a great time out on the course. The crew worked tirelessly on Friday and Saturday to try and get as much of the water removed from bunkers after the downpour on Thursday and early Friday. We had a total of 33mm of rain helping to flush the greens and soils of the fairways, tees and roughs of any excessive salt build up.

The fertiliser that was applied two weeks ago is showing its effects now. Coupled with the good rains, the course has turned a darker shade of green, and some definition can be seen between fairways and roughs.

This week, the crew is cleaning bunker edges and removing grasses in the bunkers. Roughs are being mowed, and greens will be edged later in the week. All prepping is in line for club champs in two and a half weeks.

Please check out the attached link about turf rollers being used to assist in the management of putting greens. Rolling greens has become an industry norm since scientific data has been shown to aid in turf management.

Please be mindful of pitch marks and repairing your own as well as any other you may come across.

Keep it on the short stuff!
Rohan

There are many variables that impact on the backspin created at impact.
Understanding some simple physicshelps us to get to the right combination of
launch angle, ball speed, and spin rate to add 20+ metres to your tee shot.

What if I told you that in many cases, fat or thin contact, or a swing-path-club-face-relationship
creating a fade or slice, can be traced to poor posture with incorrect bend and tilt at address?

Kellie Stenzel, in a Golf.com instruction video, aimed at golfers with an inclination to hit fat iron shots,
goes straight to your posture and upper body bend at setup, as a major cause of this problem.
Watch the video now with a good tip for an in-round checkup you can continually make.

Stenzel has a good tip in her video, but the question is, if you were asked to pull a Driver, and then a hybrid,
and then a #7 iron out of your bag and set up correctly each time; would you have the knowledge of the
key check points to a good setup?
Not sure?
