This week we have two videos to start the season. These are videos from last year, but we really want to take time to revisit them.

One is talking about how to properly enter and exit our bunkers to help us with maintaining proper sand depth in all areas. The other is a video about how to hit a high and soft shot out of the bunker to a close pin!

Look for more videos to come now that the weather is finally going to allow for us to be outside a little! Click on the images below to watch...

Each year we have a series of events that players earn points for similar to how the FedEx Cup works. Just like the FedEx Cup our season ends with a Tour Championship and we crown a player of the year when all is said and done. We have listed below the events that will be included in the 2018 Leawood Tour Series. We hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join us for these events to test your game against the best at CCL!!! Signup for many of these events is available on ForeTees.

The Handicap Points System moves into its fourth season at CCL. As many of you know, in 2015 we implemented a Handicap Points System at CCL to help us with monitoring handicaps and to ensure a level playing field for all players in our events. Essentially in this system players earn points when they win or finish near the top of one of our events. If a player earns a certain number of points, their handicap is reduced. Each year the Handicap Committee meets and has made some minor tweaks to the original system. Moving forward into the fourth year we will continue see changes from event to event as the system works on a 24 month running tally on points and events played. This means that the events from 2016 will start to rotate off the system this year as the events from 2018 come on.

New to the system for 2018 we have added a column towards the end of the spreadsheet titled “Locked in Handicap to Adjust From.” The number listed in this column is the player's course handicap at the time that they received a reduction. The reason we are tracking this is that if a player’s course handicap gets lower after they have earned their reduction we don’t feel it makes sense to continue to penalize them by reducing them even further. For example if player A has a 10 handicap and earns a two shot reduction down to an 8 handicap we will always adjust their handicap from the 10 handicap down. This means that if player A improves to a 9 handicap they won’t be reduced down to a 7, but instead will still receive the 2 shot reduction off their 10 handicap. If a player's handicap should improve to a point that it is lower than their earned reduction then they will no longer have a reduction. The contrary is also true that if a player earns a reduction as a 10 handicap and then his handicap goes up to an 11 the player will still be reduced off the 10 handicap and be down to an 8 handicap. The reason the committee has made this change to the system is to not penalize people that are improving their handicap, and to penalize more severely the player that may be sandbagging to a higher handicap to counteract the handicap reduction. I know that this can get confusing at times and if you have any specific questions, I strongly urge you to call me or stop by the Golf Shop, as this is much easier to describe in person than via email.

We have listed below the events that will be played using the Handicap Points System in 2018. The Handicap Committee will continue to monitor this system throughout the year and will meet periodically to discuss any other handicap related issues that may come up. Click here for the most up to date Handicap Points System list. This list will also be made available on the Golf Genius app once we get the 2018 Men’s Events going.

The events that will earn Handicap Points System points in 2018 and will therefore use any handicap reductions that are earned are as follows:

 a. Devil’s Challenge
b. Jambalea
c. Senior Club Championship
d. Men’s Quota
e. Men’s Club Championship
f. Leawood Cup
g. Individual Match Play

WHAT SORT OF ROGUE ARE YOU?

If you want to challenge your performance off the tee,
then now is the time to come and see us.

How good is your ball striking? How does that translate into your performance on approach shots?
Here’s a question that will help you evaluate where you stand.
We’d like you to put yourself on one of 4 different levels.

In almost all golfers there’s an Iron where the consistency and control in their ball striking breaks down.
What is that Iron for you? Our advice is to ignore your Handicap rating and set out this year to improve which level of Approach Play you’ve currently reached. Improve that level and we promise you that, not only will your Handicap fall, your scorecard improve, and your winnings pile up; You’ll enjoy your golf so much more.

Why not start with an Assessment with us to see where you are,
and create your personal improvement plan.
