This week Ryan talks about what club to choose around the green, and how to best hit off the wet zoysia that we will encounter over the next few weeks. Click the video below...

Saturday, May 19th
8:30 am Shotgun

We are only two weeks away from our 2018 Men’s Devil’s Challenge (Member/Member) Event. This is an event with an extremely fun format that you should definitely grab a partner for and sign up. The Devil’s Challenge lives up to its name by giving each team the chance to play holes 1-6 in the Chapman Alternate Shot format, holes 7-12 in the One Net Best Ball format and holes 13-18 in a Two-Man Scramble. You play 6-6-6 of these three formats and the event is flighted to ensure that you play with and against players of similar ability.

Typically the event carries a few side bet options as well for those of you interested in that. The cost of the event is $50 per player and that includes lunch and beer after the golf as well as the chance at prizes for your good play!

Season Long - Qualifier deadline on May 21st

This is our second year for the Dunning Cup, our Gross Match Play (no handicap) bracket event that will be played throughout the year. In order to participate in this event, players will need to play a qualifying round from the blue tees between now and May 21st. In order to count as a qualifying round, the player must tell the Golf Shop prior to the start of the round and must have another member sign the scorecard.

The player with the lowest score will earn the #2 seed as our 2017 champion, Nate Wright, will have the #1 seed. The rest of the players will be seeded based on their qualifying score through the top 16 seeds. The field will then be split into pods of four players and each player will be guaranteed three matches. The player from each pod with the best record will move on to compete for the semi-finals. All matches will be played with no handicaps and will be played from the blue tees.

Test your skills one-on-one with other 18-Hole Ladies members. In the individual match play, we will split the field into two flights, based on handicaps. The sign up deadline is Sunday, May 6.

I will post brackets on Tuesday, May 8 and it will be your responsibility to schedule your matches by the deadline. Matches that are not completed will be decided by a coin toss, unless otherwise determined by Ryan Fitzpatrick.

  9-Hole Couples Twilight

For this event we will play a four person (two couples) shamble. You can sign up as a group of 4 players or as a twosome and we can pair you up.

After golf, we will have dinner set up in the Fireside room. The cost per couple is $55 and includes the golf, golf prizes for the winners and dinner.

The chicken and the egg remains the perennial question.
It never seems considered that the chicken might not lay the egg, or that the egg might not hatch.

Which comes first: the improved swing or a set of fitted Irons?
How many of you this year will invest in a game improvement program to
fundamentally change and improve your golf swing?
If that’s a commitment you want to make,

However, whether you’re going to improve your swing or not, we want the egg to hatch.
Golf equipment that fits improves your golf experience immediately.

Almost every golfer we custom fit for a set of Irons notes at least one dimension of measurable improvement.
Those with higher handicaps and the less skilled often see two, or even three,
dimensions of measurable improvement, IMMEDIATELY.
What could your improvement be?

We want you to get more out of your practice. We want you to see the results.
We want you to enjoy practice. The secret is practising with more purpose.

There is time for ‘block practice’. That’s trying to hit the same shot time after time.
You’ll probably have a technique improvement you’re working on.

Even when you’re engaged in a very specific ‘block practice’, you should approach it with real
focus and concentration on each shot.

Before each shot, take a practice swing noting the feeling or movement you’re trying to re-enforce.

Now take your real shot, with your attention being on the process – not the shot result.
Did you feel or note the movement you were trying to make?

You’re better off hitting 50 shots carefully with 100% concentration on the improvement you’re trying to make,
than hitting 100 shots with even 80% concentration. Unsure of when to use block or random practice, then
