As the calendar turns towards May, we are still looking for a little cooperation from Mother Nature. Unfortunately, cooler than normal temperatures continue to keep the golf season at bay. Next week. however, we should start to see a bit more seasonable weather. We are due!

If we can get the weather to cooperate, both the Tuesday and Friday Night Twi season will be getting started next week. Both Twi events are 2 person, 100% handicap, blind draw events and are open to all players and are played every Tuesday and Friday during the golf season.

The Paul Revere Cup, the year's first “Major”, will be contested this weekend.
Last year Mel Carreras shot 67, good for a 2 stroke win over runner-up Dan Brennan. The format is 18 holes of Net Medal play. You can elect to play your tournament round on either Saturday or Sunday. To enter, simply sign up in the Pro Shop prior to your round.

The Spring Four-Ball will get started next weekend.
An 18 hole qualifying round will be played on April 28th. 16 teams advance to match play and will have a week to complete their 1st round matches. There is a consolation flight for all first round losers. Sign up for the Four-Ball is on the bulletin board in the hallway. If you are looking for a partner please let the pro shop know.

The Thursday Suburban League will soon be getting underway.
The first match is a home game against Needham CC. Hopefully it will be the start of a winning season for Team LGC. It has been 6 long years since we last won the League Championship. Always looking for additional players, if you would like to play in some of the matches, be sure to contact team captains Sam Gallo, Joe Tassone, or Jim Buckley.

So as you can see, coming into May, the season will be off and running. Keep an eye out for upcoming events and be sure to sign up early! All events are published in the tournament schedule and posted on the club bulletin board. They are also posted on the club web site. Questions can be answered with a phone call to the Pro Shop. Our goal is to offer fun competitive events for everybody, so be sure to get involved and participate in your club-sponsored events.

Moving the fill for new tees...

Work has started on the new tees on holes #2 & #4. Because of the topography, a lot of fill will be required to raise each tee high enough to view the fairway. It is estimated that #2 will need to come up about 8’ and #4 will need to come up a good 12’. Once the fill material is positioned and the new tees are shaped, they will be sodded. If we can get some good growing weather, we may be playing on them by mid-June or so. In the meantime, work on your “long ball”!

New 2nd tee construction starts...

Additional fill is positioned for the new 4th tee.

. . .we are currently playing the ball up (preferred lies) in your own fairway.

Best Regards,
Kevin
