With less than stellar golfing weather dominating much of the spring so far, it was great to finally get into a more favorable weather pattern this week. The warm weather brought out more than just golfers to LGC. Check out the beautiful flowering trees behind the 8th green and the dogwoods on the 2nd hole.

The Spring FourBall continues.
In the Championship Flight, the team of Jack Finlayson and Mike Amico upset the top seeded team of Steve Keegan & Mike Keegan in a marathon 21 hole match. Peter and Nicholas Manning advanced after a 3 & 2 win over Steve Tunney and Mike Champagne. In the lower bracket, Bill McAlduff and Rob Justice edged out Mel Carreras and Henry Liu 1 up. Also advancing was the team of Steve Potter and Dave Riley after winning their match 3 & 2 against 2015 Champions, Steve Jepsen and TJ Lombardini. All teams losing their 1st round match move to the consolation flight. See Consolation tree here.

On Tuesday, the Ladies Division had their Opening Event and Luncheon. In the scramble format, the team of Sunny Adler & Karen Boudreau shot 78 to take the top spot. The team of Jessica Bethoney, Jane Smith, and Kristin Nordahl shot 85 to finish runner-up. Two teams tied for 3rd with a score of 87. Dianne Champagne, Lorraine Gryp, and Donna Wilson were matched by the team of Steffie Lowder, Kyle James, and Mandy Finizio. The team of Lee Sinai, Betsy Reynolds, and Pat Bianco rounded out the scoring with 91. The golf was followed by a delicious luncheon served by Patty and the kitchen crew.

The Ladies Division has now officially kicked off their season. Events are played every Tuesday morning throughout the golf season. If you are one of the ladies (of any golfing level) who have not yet joined the fun on the Tuesday mornings, you are always welcomed any time. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board in the ladies locker room. Call the Pro Shop for more information.

Remember, all tournament results are posted on the club website.

Everyone should get custom fitted for their Irons. Together with the innovations in face technology,
it offers you the quickest route to improvement and fulfillment. Different skill levels see different improvements.

Ball flight improves (easier to get the ball in the air)
which adds to distance, and most importantly,
enjoyment. Number of bad misses decreases,
taking shots off the scorecard.
Clubs with the right swing weight and shaft
make it easier to improve, faster.
The big winner we see here is distance.
Often more than a club length at the
7 Iron level, making approach play easier.
Consistency improves quickly (as you’d expect
with the right lie angle, shaft length
and shaft flex). For most golfers this is the
quickest way to Break 90.

Comfort and confidence with mid-irons translates
into more greens in regulation.
The #7 Iron and down, becomes clubs
that are attacking the pin more often.
That’s what the perfect configuration buys you.
We still see distance improvements,
but at this level, added yards are less
important than accuracy and consistency.

Here the improvement we’re delivering
is translated into feet closer on the green.
Six or seven 10 foot Putts offer more birdies
than the equivalent number of 25-footers.
Here, there’s a granularity to the fitting
that offers very specific shaft performance.
The feel of the club at contact is often a
discernable improvement as contact
is made with the sweet spot more easily.

Almost every golfer we custom fit for a set of Irons notes at least one dimension of measurable
improvement. Those with higher handicaps and the less skilled often see two, or even three,
dimensions of measurable improvement, IMMEDIATELY.
What could your improvement be?

The quickest way to lower a score is to improve your short game and putting but, for many golfers,
the enjoyment on most holes is lost straight away. Poor tee shots land the golfer in trouble.
A walk to find a golf ball; or an immediate penalty shot.

If you’re interested in those two objectives, then we’re here to help.
For the vast majority of golfers we see: a more athletic setup; an improved take-away and turn;
and an improved sequence of movement on the downswing will deliver significantly
more distance to straighter tee shots.
Challenge us. Challenge yourself.
