Please welcome the newest additions to the golf operation, Josh Myers and Tom Lubrano. Josh and Tom will soon by joined by PGA Professional RJ Ziats as part of the Starter and Player Assistant team. Look for them traveling the golf courses in the recently acquired green Club Car golf carts. Their role is to monitor play and assist groups in complying with club policies including:

  Pace of Play
Care of Course
Cart Usage Rules

They will also be checking on divots and bunkers. If you find you need assistance please ask for help. For example, if you are falling behind they may travel with your group to take care of raking a bunker to help you get back on pace. They may help advance your cart from one side of the green to the cart path to assist with your exit to the next tee. They may also ask for your help in complying with Club Rules by providing you a Rules Reminder Card. These cards are meant to be reminders about policies in place at the Club, some so long ignored, members have forgotten they exist.

This campaign is to protect the course and limit damage from careless cart usage and to foster improved courtesy for your fellow members. The Player Assistants and Rules Reminder Cards are a significant part of this campaign. Please be advised that the Board of Directors has approved a policy that will begin on February 5th:

-From 2/5 each Reminder Card issued will be logged.
-Members who receive a second card in a 30 day period will receive a follow-up communication from the professional staff.
-If a member receives a third reminder within the next 30 days their tee time privilege will be subject to the inclusion of a caddy for up to four rounds, including the requirement that they play one round in the company of a member of the professional staff.

Sawgrass Country Club’s golf course is among its most valuable assets. We all want to see it protected for the mutual enjoyment of all. Please help in this campaign.

If you have any questions regarding this campaign - contact us.

January Team Day
Results

The forecast threatened to derail the second attempt to play January's edition of Team Day but heavy fog didn't stop 48 ladies from taking it to the course and hitting it out of sight. Patty Brooks (Blue Team) and Marge Monteith (Yellow Team) topped the Third Flight and the entire field with matching net stableford points totals of 39. They were joined as flight winners by Laura Dobbs (37 points, First Flight), Patty Koizim (36 points, Second Flight, Red Team), and Linda Soud (36 points, Fourth Flight, Green Team). Complete results have been posted to the SWGA Web Site. Thanks to all those who braved the conditions to join in!

Next week, we honor all SWGA grandmothers (and step-grandmothers) in our Grandmothers Tournament. Beverly Beck is set to defend as Grandmothers Champion in this net stableford event that will begin with an 8:30 shotgun and conclude with lunch. Please bring pictures of grandchildren to the golf shop prior to the round to share at the luncheon! Non-grandmothers are encouraged to join in as well and will compete in a separate net play day payout. We hope to see you there!

We would also like to share some additional ladies events of interest. Sawgrass is exciting to host female professionals from across the country in the Inaugural Women's Member-Pro on January 27th. Sign-up with a group of three or as an individual on ForeTees. The Ladies Club-to-Club series continues with TPC Sawgrass hosting on January 23rd and Timuquana on February 1st. Sign-up is now available by visiting the SWGA Web Site or by contacting the golf shop. Each event is open to the first five ladies to register so don't delay! More details for all events are available below.

You’re playing an approach shot into the green. You’ve got a target. You’re telling yourself it’s large. “No big deal.”
You’re settling over the ball with really positive swing thoughts. Hold on.
If you haven’t already done so, I have three very simple questions.

We’d like your thoughts on your short-game.
Just five simple questions.
Nothing complicated, technical,
or personal. But it will help us with
some research. Start now.
