2018 Valentine’s Couples Mixer
Sunday, February 18, 2018

Thank you for playing in the 2018 Valentine’s Couples Mixer on Sunday, February 18, 2018. We had 68 players for the stableford format on a beautiful afternoon of golf! Love was in the air for our new Executive Chef, Michael Meuse, and his culinary team who prepared the best steak dinner of 2018.

Congratulations to our champions, Joe & Claire Monahan and Chuck & Peggy Wallace.
They teamed up to earn 59 stableford points.

The field was divided in two flights, Chocolate and Roses. Please join us in congratulating our Chocolate flight champions, Steve & Julie Allen and Don & Chi Daniels. Our Rose Flight champions successfully defended their win from 2017. Way to go, Eddie & Patty Brooks and Stephen & Phyllis Mallard (pictured below).

We hope you all can join the next event, the Couples Club Championship, scheduled for Saturday & Sunday, March 3rd & 4th. Also, the annual “Mars v. Venus” battle is ahead on Sunday, March 11th.

The first Golf Shop Game was conducted on Saturday, February 17th with 53 players competing in the Fourball Stableford v. Par format. Please click here for full tournament results and payout summary. All Golf Shop credit has been posted. The next event will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018.

SWGA Variable Best Ball
Results

We had a great showing for this week’s Variable Best Ball with 56 ladies participating over two rotations. The South/East rotation showed its teeth today with an 11 stroke higher average team score than that of the West/South rotation. That didn't slow down the rotation winning team of Ginny Stott, Indu Sapra, Rosemary Crimmins, and Jan Sellers or the runner-up (by match of cards) team of Chris Hunt, Mary Lahey, Phyllis Peter-Mallard, and Suzanne Davis who had matching scores of 124 net (-12). There was also a tie for the top over on the West/South rotation with two teams posting totals of 113 (-23). The team of Lis Petersen, Terry Zebouni, Joan Hostetler, and Blind Draw (Lynne Scielzo) came out on the winning end the match of cards with Kathy Church, Gleith Mann, Patty D'Amico, and Sharon Ellis. Please visit the SWGA Web Site for complete results.

Next week, "March" Team Day (register on Golf Genius) makes an early debut to make room for the SWGA Member-Member (register your pair on ForeTees) in the first full week of March. After that, two more play days are now open for registration leading up to the sold out Inaugural Sawgrass Classic. We will continue to accept registrations for the wait list.

The new TaylorMade M3 Irons might not be compact enough for the purist, but I challenge any of you to
experience the impact on your ball striking, especially measured by how straight you become.

Even if you’re a better player you should try out the TaylorMade M3 Irons to decide
for yourself whether performance outweighs your priority on ‘classic’.
And even if you’re an inexperienced golfer who thinks the M4 will be your choice,
hit the M3 Irons as well.

What if I told you that in many cases, fat or thin contact, or a swing-path-club-face-relationship
creating a fade or slice, can be traced to poor posture with incorrect bend and tilt at address?

Kellie Stenzel, in a Golf.com instruction video, aimed at golfers with an inclination to hit fat iron shots,
goes straight to your posture and upper body bend at setup, as a major cause of this problem.
Watch the video now with a good tip for an in-round checkup you can continually make.

Stenzel has a good tip in her video, but the question is, if you were asked to pull a Driver, and then a hybrid,
and then a #7 iron out of your bag and set up correctly each time; would you have the knowledge of the
key check points to a good setup?
Not sure?
