The 2018 edition of The Match was played recently. The odds were again heavily stacked against the ZCC league and 2 Academy teams as the Professionals have won in the last 5 years. However, despite the cold, everyone was keen to do battle and after foursomes in the morning the ZCC league team lead 4-0 against the Academy A team, 3-1 against the Academy B team and halved 2-2 with the Professionals.

The afternoon singles matches were tightly contested and after completion of all the matches, the ZCC League team beat the Academy A team 9-3, the Academy B team 7.5-4.5 and again halved with the Professionals 6-6. This meant that both the ZCC league team and the Professionals beat the Academy teams and therefore the scores were tied at 5 each. The winner was thus decided on game points and the ZCC league team had a total of 22.5 against the Professionals score of 21.5! Well done to the ZCC League Team. The next event will be played on 21 September.

In preparing for the start of the Junior League next month, a match was arranged between the junior league team and the senior scratch league team. The match was played off scratch and the better ball was comfortably won by the seniors 3.5/0.5. The singles was more tightly contested but eventually the seniors won by 5.5/2.5. The highlight of the singles was Ernst Ludick beating William Skinner 3/1 and Marco Anderson beating Chris Delport 2/1. While the seniors won the match 9/3, hopefully it was valuable practice for the juniors. We wish them luck for their league!

A mid-Iron second, over a nasty hazard, with more trouble right of the green,
tests your technique, your equipment, your fitting, and your confidence.

A Hybrid has the forgiveness,
and deeper centre of gravity this shot needs.
But some golfers struggle mentally with the
need to strike the ball a descending blow
with a Hybrid.
That’s why some manufacturers have
created Crossovers or Hybrid-Irons.
Mentally it is easier to think about,
and execute, a slightly descending
blow with this club.

If there’s an area of your approach shot game from the Fairway that punishes you too often,
there’s potential for scorecard improvement. Use the right fitted equipment with the right technique,
and you’ll be able to take the challenge on with a greater chance of success.
Spend 45 minutes with us. Let’s make a difference.

Got some friends who have just started to learn the game?
Give them a chance to have some fun out on the golf course.

You don’t have to tee off from the tee box – a hugely daunting and intimidating experience
for someone still struggling to get a full shot airborne consistently.
It will lead to a much longer round and not a lot of joy.
Why not play 9-holes with each hole starting at the 40 metre mark?

You don’t have to wait for us to create fun golf experiences.
You can create them yourselves as a four-ball, or a small group.
Respect everyone else, but enjoy your golf.

Try this with friends, if you’re a regular or even highly competitive golfer.
Come down after work, before work, whenever you have 2 hours.
Play a 9 hole 40 metre Championship. It’s a great game.

Anyone not shooting under 36?
Then it’s time to pay a visit and improve your short game.
