The new clubhouse opened on Monday at 12h00. The revamp includes new floors, furnishings and fittings, sporting a fresh and upmarket botanical appeal in the clubhouse. A new menu is also available – visit the clubhouse and enjoy the new setting! There is also a new replacement Weiss beer on tap, replacing the Glenhoff Craft Beer, so please come in and enjoy.
We thank the developer for the investment in the clubhouse and Brian Shing, General Manager of the Oubaai Hotel who managed the project to completion. The food and beverage at the clubhouse is now also managed by Brian.

On 3 September 2018 South Africa will join the rest of the world by implementing the World Handicap System. Golf clubs and courses will be implementing a new Course and Slope Rating System. This change will influence your Handicap Calculation. The new system (based on the USGA Course Rating System) calculates your course handicap on the day of play based on the course you choose to play.
GolfRSA believes that this will be fairer than our current handicap which does not equalise the higher and lower handicaps well on a difficult golf course. The Handicap Index (calculated for each player) will be portable from country to country. The attached document visually highlights and explains some of the terminology. The Oubaai Golf Club will publish a series of articles in the newsletter to discuss more details on the changes in the run-up to 3 September. We will also be inviting Rita Herold to a workshop evening to give more clarity.
Join the Srixon Ball promotion and stand a chance to win R10,000! Buy a dozen Srixon golf balls and choose your favourite number (1-100). When we have sold 100 dozen balls the winner will be drawn from the numbers and the winning number will give the owner of R10 000 to spend in the pro shop!
Reserve your new golf balls here.

The good news is that we received 11mm of rain on Friday which has helped the course and the greens recover. This week we’ll be cutting the greens lower as the sand is absorbed. Apart from the general maintenance and tidying up of the course, we are planning to spray and fertilise the greens and continue with the improvement of the bunkers.
We are fixing the irrigation and setting it up to run off one central computer. We are also giving attention to the driving range.
Looking forward to playing some golf on Wednesday.
Until next week, Igor

| | | | | “Both these golfers see golf as a social pastime. It’s an opportunity to have an enjoyable outdoor hobby that they can enjoy with friends. They like to hit good shots but know they won’t have the time or inclination to commit to be as good they can be. But both could increase the number of good shots they hit quite easily if they looked for the easy, big wins open to most golfers.” | | | | | | | | |

| | Your distance potential is determined to large extent by your clubhead speed and we want to make sure you’re not losing out. We can do this using a combination of appropriate technique adjustments and golf-specific fitness exercises. | | | Clubhead speed, as the name suggests, is the speed of the clubhead immediately before impact with the golf ball, and it has a big impact on your potential distance. | | | |
