The newsletter is a little late this week because Andrew, Philip, Altus and myself were playing our Regional Championships in PE for the past two days. This year our flagship event was held at Wedgewood Golf Estate on the outskirts of the city. The course, which is a rebuild of a former course, is really starting to grow and mature and the estate is growing rapidly with new houses going up all over.

One of the main reasons Wedgewood is gaining a reputation as a fun place to play golf is the team that look after the golf operations. Hector Nicou and his young team run a really good show and go out of their way to accommodate everyone that come to play. The clubhouse is warm and inviting and it’s open-plan style makes you feel like you’re in a mate's house rather than in a building. The kitchen also offers some wonderful food options with loads of freshly baked items to choose from and a clever menu that’s a little different to what you’d find at most courses. It’s a golf estate that’s still coming into its own, but I have no doubt that with the energy on show from those in charge, the future looks really good.

Onto the golf and unfortunately Phil, Andy and I don’t have anything to really say other than it wasn’t our finest showings. Altus on the other hand played solid golf and finished T4 on 4 over par for the two days. Scoring was good, with 3 players finishing under par. Rob Wiedeker from Kingswood took home the title with two fantastic rounds of 70 and 68 and a winning score of 6 under par. A massive thanks must go to Jacque, Nic, Christian and Gavin for coming to play as our amateur partners. It’s always fun taking the guys out for two days of golf and we appreciate you making the time. To Hector and his team, a massive thank you for putting on a awesome event and looking after everyone in the way that you did.

Onto some shop news and this week we started a new promotion that we are really excited about. Last month Callaway released the latest version of their Chrome Soft and Chrome Soft X balls. Both of these models are considered their premium balls and are played by their staff players on tour. As with any premium ball, the technology lies in the construction with each layer serving its own purpose allowing players to get the most out of every facet of their game. Both balls have also been constructed with graphene, a new material considered to be one of the strongest, most durable materials in the world. It also sounds cool. To try and encourage you to try the new ball, we are running a promotion whereby if you purchase a dozen your name will go into the draw where you can win an odyssey putter of your choice from our stock. Better still, we are limiting the entries to 50 which gives you an even better chance of winning. It’s a great promotion so if you’re keen on trying a different ball, then why not give Chrome soft a try?

Our weekly deal is another good one this week. Adipure is a sub brand inside the adidas stable and is marketed as the best of the best from adidas Golf. Justin Rose is the Marques player endorsing the brand and I for one think that he’s one of the best dressed players on tour. The new range of Adipure shoes are just awesome and for this week only we are giving a dozen Taylormade TP5 balls with every pair purchased.
The US Open is only 1 week away and I cannot wait to see what challenges Shinnecock has on offer for the best players in the world. Some say that this may be one of the best courses you’re ever likely to play and judging by the pictures doing the rounds on social media, we look set for something rather special next week.
