We are on to the season’s third major. The oldest championship in golf! I always have enjoyed watching the different shots they have to play at these courses and over the past few years have been lucky enough to play Bandon Dunes and go on a trip to Ireland to play similar types of links golf courses! There is truly nothing like it. In Ireland, I played back-to-back holes with a 390-yard drive downwind followed by a 190-yard drive into the wind. It is the craziest type of golf I have ever played and I loved it. Also after that, I hit a 4 iron on a par 3 that played the normal distance of my Pitching Wedge.

After watching The Open this week I think I will finally be ready to plan my trip to the home of golf and will look forward to having many of you joining me! Until we have the chance to give these courses a try we can watch some of the below videos just to show you how different links golf can truly be! I don’t generally go out on a limb to pick winners, but I’m feeling Matthew Fitzpatrick this week because he has been playing well and has a cool last name!

July and early August will be another month full of great things to do at CCL. Be sure to get signed up for these by contacting Ryan or by signing up on ForeTees!

  Parent – Child
Sunday, July 22nd 3:00 Shotgun

This event is open to any of our juniors that participated in junior golf and their parent. If a parent is not available a junior can play with a grandparent, uncle or aunt (if there aren’t two adults to play then one parent can play with two kids). The format is Modified Chapman Alternate Shot. The golf event with golf cart and prizes is included in the junior golf fee for the 2018 season. We do split the field into the divisions they were in for junior golf (7-9 Year Olds, 10-12 Year Olds and 13-18 Year Olds), and every team will play a full 9 holes. The buffet after the golf will be $15 for adults and $9 for children.

  Ladies Nine and Wine
Thursday, July 26th 5:30 Shotgun

Come out and play 9-holes and then join us for some drinks and appetizers after golf. Each lady plays from 25 yards their first time out with a goal of shooting 36 or better. If you hit your goal then you move to 50 yards the next time you play and continue to progress further from the hole each time you shoot 36 or better.

  Senior Club Championship
Saturday, August 4th and Sunday, August 5th 9:00 Tee Times

The players will play 36 holes of stroke play. The groups will be divided into two flights. Players age 50 to 64 will play the white tees and players age 65 or older will play the gold tees. Players that are 65 or older do have the option of choosing to play in the white tee flight. We will have gross and net prizes in each flight so the game is open to players of all abilities! $40 per player will include both days of golf with prizes and a keg of beer after golf both days.

  Junior Club Championship
August 4th and 5th 2:00 Tee Times (Oldest will go first)

Juniors will play both days and will play from distances determined by the Golf Shop that match up with their age group. The format will be Individual Stroke Play. This event is included in the cost of the summer program.

To help you find the perfect partner for you on the putting green, we’ve highlighted the importance
of matching balance to your putting stroke; and then ensuring the visual appeal is right BEFORE we get to a fitting.
But now we need to look at the length of the perfect partner for you.

Two putting styles, same golfer, two Putter lengths required. The style on the left is a pendulum style,
while the one on the right has the stroke controlled by the left shoulder and elbow.

What if I told you that many, not some but many, golfers are playing with a Putter too
long to encourage the proper rotation and therefore can’t square the face at impact?

Making sure your Putter length suits your putting style, setup and size will allow you to make a
technically sound putting stroke and to repeat it time after time.
That doesn’t just lower your score, it brings you the thrill of more Putts that drop.

If you’ve already shown the athletic ability to get to 90 or threaten that score,
then it’s highly likely that we can help you improve your swing quickly to the point that you’re in the low 80’s.
The question is how quickly and easily?

If that’s a golf experience that appeals to you, then please don’t wait.
Start the journey to hitting even better golf shots.
