Memorial Day Pro-Am:

Like last year, this year’s Memorial Day Pro-Am was won in blowout fashion.

In the best-ball gross + best-ball net format, the all Irish team of Rob Lynch, Tom Walsh, Tim Muphy, and John Flanagan fired an impressive team score of 134 (-8) in tough cool damp conditions. That was good for a 6 stroke margin of victory over the team Steve Jepsen, Jerry Pawloski, Jim Osten, and Bob Wik at 140 (-2). Shooting 141 (-1) and finishing 3rd was the team of Mike Champagne, Ken Collina, Dick Volpicelli, and Eric Carlson. In 4th place with an even par score of 142 was the team of Dave Malenchini, Mark Murphy, Jim Archambeault, and Charlie Toczylowski.

This week the Ladies played their Memorial Tournament.

The 18-hole net medal event is one of the “Majors” for the ladies. With the greens playing “fast 'n firm”, scoring was difficult as Kyle James fired a 77 (+5) to win by 3 strokes over a trio of players. 2017 Champion Pat Bianco, Joan Small, and Linda Picceri all shot 80 to share runner-up honors.

Congratulations to Kyle for her great play!

The new 2nd tee made its debut last weekend. Though the new 4th tee is still a work in progress, members can now start enjoying the challenge presented by the new tee on hole #2.

“Both these golfers see golf as a social pastime. It’s an opportunity to have an enjoyable outdoor hobby that they can enjoy with friends. They like to hit good shots but know they won’t have the time or inclination to commit to be as good they can be. But both could increase the number of good shots they hit quite easily if they looked for the easy, big wins open to most golfers.”

Your distance potential is determined to large extent by your clubhead speed and we
want to make sure you’re not losing out. We can do this using a combination of appropriate technique
adjustments and golf-specific fitness exercises.

Clubhead speed, as the name suggests, is the speed of the clubhead immediately before impact with the golf ball,
and it has a big impact on your potential distance.
