The story of the Army Cup
(Held by the Club since 1983): This trophy was presented in 1893 by Lt.Col. Gray-Buchanan, Commanding Officer of the Cameronian Regiment (Scottish Rifles) to the officers of the 3rd and 4th Battalions for annual competitions by them. At the time the Regiment was encamped upon Lanark Moor which formed part of the golf course up on the area which now lies between the second hole and the practice ground. Upon disbandmend of the Regiment in 1968 it was held at the Regimental Museum in Hamilton until 1983 when it was handed over to Lanark Golf Club for safekeeping. Since 1984 it has been awarded to the winner of an annual invitation competition. As it is not club property it is the only prize silverware not actually owned by the Club.

Everyone had a great day...played golf, enjoyed Paul’s BBQ then watched the Champions League Final in the evening!

Well done to Andrew Goodwin (pictured here with the Captain, Neil Carmichael) and his partner John Keegan who won the trophy with a nett 62.

Congratulation also to Neil Turner and Kenny Wilson who won the scratch prize on a better back 6 with a 68.

Buy 3, 6, 9, or 12 Titleist golf balls before you tee off in the June Monthly Medal this weekend and if you get your handicap cut, you will get the same again FREE!

“Both these golfers see golf as a social pastime. It’s an opportunity to have an enjoyable outdoor hobby that they can enjoy with friends. They like to hit good shots but know they won’t have the time or inclination to commit to be as good they can be. But both could increase the number of good shots they hit quite easily if they looked for the easy, big wins open to most golfers.”

Your distance potential is determined to large extent by your clubhead speed and we
want to make sure you’re not losing out. We can do this using a combination of appropriate technique
adjustments and golf-specific fitness exercises.

Clubhead speed, as the name suggests, is the speed of the clubhead immediately before impact with the golf ball,
and it has a big impact on your potential distance.
