You have questions?

We have answers!

For stealing that slogan, I hope we don’t get sued. But it’s true! Whether it’s in person or email, we field quite a few questions.  These two are the latest of many we seem to field:

“You posted some pictures of some irons last week, and I heard a friend that he was getting a ‘combo set.’  Why would anyone choose something that’s not in a set all the way down to the pitching wedge at least?”
– J.B.

When someone is fit, they’re (hopefully) put into something that works for them.  However, some golfers want a specific feel or performance in different parts of the bag.  It’s the premise that you want the most forgiving in the long irons, slightly less so for shotmaking in the middle, then at the bottom of the bag, you want something that delivers some precision.  Not everyone can get fit like this.  Not everyone should.  It will take the watchful eye of a professional like Tim to see if that is the best way to go.  But by all means, don’t do this yourself.  You can make an expensive mistake, and we wouldn’t want that.

“I came in for a fitting but realized I need some shirts for an event that my company is sponsoring in six weeks.  Do you have anyone I can talk to?  Oh, and I love my PINGs!”  - J.

Of course!  We offer a full complement of apparel from almost every major golf company at various price points.  Come back into the store or give us all call at 817.595.4653 for information and help on what would work for you.  We’ve got you covered!

And thanks!  I hope you like your G410s
We’ve fitted a bunch of those!

The T-Series Irons are
causing a stir

We’re starting to get some feedback on the T100 and T300 respectively.

It was all positive.  My personal favorite was a text that Tim got about the T300’s: “Holy S%#@! These are awesome!”  All I could do was laugh.

Bragging or informing?

I know it seems like we like to brag a bit, and we do somewhat.  But people are results-driven.  You’re entrusting us with your game, and we’re going to do our level best to take care of it and you for the long-term.  As a former customer, I’ve seen what the folks here at The Golf Station do up close and personal.  I put my money where my mouth was too and took a leap of faith.  That leap has lasted for about a decade now.  Customers like you make it possible to continue to do what we do, and for that, we thank you.

If you or your friends are ready for something different in the way of instruction, fitting and equipment, you have my word that we’re going to do our level best to make sure your experience is not only a good one but also memorable.  Click here or call 817.595.4653 for more information on what we do and how.

It’ll be our pleasure to make sure you’re Golf Station Fit!

Spin: friend or foe?

How can you influence spin rates?
Manufacturers have long known that regular golfers needed a higher launch angle on tee shots. For a while, they tried to urge golfers to play super-high lofted drivers. But while increasing the dynamic launch angle (the actual angle the ball launches), it also created the side-effect of too much backspin for many.
By fixing a very common swing fault, most golfers can increase the launch angle and lower spin rates to increase distance off the tee substantially.
Many golfers have a slight downward angle of attack on the ball with a driver, but that has the effect of lowering launch angle and increasing spin rate. A very poor scenario for most golfers.
Twenty-one extra yards
TrackMan data shows us that a golfer with an 80mph swing speed who changes their angle of attack from -5° to +5° increases their dynamic launch angle by 4° but even more importantly reduces their spin rate by over 1,000rpm. And that means twenty-one extra yards.

Fall in love with golf

The boost, thrill, and growth we see in a child when they start to master a particular golf skill gives us tremendous fulfillment. As we start to see them fall in love with the game and find new connections with others on a similar journey, we know we’re doing our job.
If we can do that, they’ll be healthier, happier, and have a game and friends for a lifetime.
Sign your children up for one of our fun junior golf programs. We’ll set them on the pathway to a lifelong love affair with the game.
