Calling all ladies...

Ladies Cocktail Party coming up!

Join us next Wednesday, February 12th, from 5:30 to 7:30 as we get together to break up this crummy weather we have been having and look forward to a great season ahead. We will have plenty of time to mingle and will also take a little time to go over schedules for the upcoming season and answer some questions about the new handicap system.

Please RSVP by clicking here, so we have a good idea of how many of you will be joining us!

World Handicap System update #9

Low Handicap Index

We continue with updates on the changes for the new World Handicap System. This week we cover Low Handicap Index. The new World Handicap will keep track of the lowest your handicap has been over the last 12 months and will use this as a way to limit your upward movement in the handicap range. Essentially this is a way that the new system is trying to help eliminate the potential of sandbagging. The Low Handicap Index will also be used in certain events at CCL such as Jambalea and Men’s Quota to help limit handicap management around those events.

Take a look at this link and then let me know if you have any questions.

The 2020 Country Club of Leawood Eagle Club

We are going to get the 2020 season started with a great offer for savings all year! Our Golf Shop’s Eagle Club program has continued to grow over the past 8 years from 40 members in 2012 to over 130 in 2019! See below for the details and a few reasons why Eagle Club makes sense for every single one of you!

1. I am very lucky to own the Golf Shop here at Country Club of Leawood. My family, staff, and I greatly appreciate your support with every purchase made here at CCL!

2. As your Golf Professionals at CCL, we take great interest in helping you improve your game. We are not just here to sell you a club and send you on your way. We love helping you get better through lessons or club fittings. It is why we do what we do!

3. There is not a place in town that beats the prices we have. We will match anything you find in town and we will offer a FREE club fitting with it. We will also take your old clubs and give you credit for them!

Member/Guest events
for 2020

We have began planning for the 2020 Jambalea! The event will take place on June 24th through June 27th this year. Click here for a sign-up form and for more details on schedule of the event. We will have sign-up similar to past years on Thursday, February 20th at 7:45 am. The field will be open to the first 64 members. Below are some updates for the event and guidelines for the sign-up day.

Each player in the event must have a USGA Handicap. We will use the players lowest handicap index from the last 12 months (June 15th, 2019 to June 14th, 2020).

The Derby will have some new ways to qualify and the Saturday Finals will have a new format.
We will continue with the format of seven 9-hole matches and flights of 8 teams.

Sign-up will start at 7:45 am on Thursday, February 20th

A member must be present and have the sign up form completed to sign-up. If a member can’t be there then they can have somebody stand in for them to bring the sign-up sheet.

The sign-ups will be taken on a first come first serve basis.

If anybody brings more than one sign-up sheet, the first sheet they bring will be taken when they get to the front of the line.

They will need to get back in line to turn the second sheet in.

Daisy 2020

We are also starting to plan for the 2020 Daisy Classic. We are excited for another great year with this event. It will be held on June 11th through June 13th and we will be continuing with the format of five 9-hole matches for the event. To sign up, please fill out this sign-up sheet with all of the requested information and join us at the Ladies Cocktail Party on Wednesday, February 12th at 5:30 pm for more information on the event.

What's in a shaft?

A longer driver shaft that increases clubhead speed, but makes it more difficult to consistently square the face at impact?
A shorter shaft that doesn’t add extra clubhead speed, but makes it easier to square the face at impact?

Callaway Mavrik Drivers

Here’s a great video. It’s an explanation of how the new Callaway Mavrik Drivers are able to deliver everything: ball speed, ball flight, forgiveness and great sound. This is rocket science at its golfing best.

Build your best game

Breaking through to lower scores for the first time is a great feeling. By isolating specific aspects of the game you need to improve, we can help you make big achievements more easily.
How many rounds could you go without a three-putt?
How many could you sink from greenside?
What if you were comfortable hitting any iron in your bag?
How much further down the fairway could you go?
How important is playing better golf to you?
