The restrictions on golf will be lifted, and we will move forward again. Be careful if you want to “go back”. We never go back. We always go forward. You need to think about how you can make the future better than the past. Having more influence over more customers is an objective you should embrace.

This is Jo and Mark. They’re the children of Mary and Stephen who don’t play golf.

As parents, Mary and Stephen are anxious that their children should not be trapped indoors on a computer screen their whole life.

Which of the following is more likely to get Mary and Stephen to
contact you to introduce the game to their children?

a) I’m a PGA coach with 15 years of experience teaching kids to play
the game.
b) We run a great golf program for children.
c) Pay for one child, and the second is free.
d) Your children can join our program for just $99 a month.
e) We help children fall in love with the greatest game you can
play outdoors.
f) As a parent, which is most important for your child: movement and athletic skills; fun outdoors in a safe environment making new friends; learning a game they can play with family and friends for the rest of their life?

Again, two of these are about “you”; two are about the “price” for a service; two are about the customer.

A video challenge

We want you to think about how you communicate, so yesterday, we asked you to use your phone to record a video: you introducing yourself to your members/golfers in less than 45 seconds.

Did you accept the challenge? There certainly has to be a part about
you. Your name and where you work. But after that, how much was about how many years you’ve been at the club or how many years experience you have? How much was about the "target customer" and the impact you make on their experience?
