I find that the best ideas have already been invented by a PGA Professional somewhere.

Mike O’Donnell has made sure that “alignment” is part of our understanding.

I read an email comment from an industry leader making the point that the failure of golf club management to align the goals, tactics, and activities, of their “instructional staff” had “cost golf clubs and the industry as a whole, many, many millions of dollars every year”

Mike has the most profound understanding of anyone I know, of the alignment required in our industry.

It goes right from the consumer/golfer through the golf club to the golf coach and even their professional development.

If you’re reading this and own your shop or are an independent contractor coaching on the back of the range and think that alignment might not be relevant to you, think again.

Aligning your activities and tactics creates more golfers, playing golf more often with as many golfers as possible being managed by an expert guide. That has a tremendous impact on equipment sales, coaching revenues, and even general retail.

If you’re in the US (or visiting), find time to talk with Mike. In the UK, David Colclough understands alignment and its benefits very well. Our very own Bart de Schepper (bartdeschepper@retailtribe.com) is managing alignment projects at many golf clubs.
