There is very little chance that functions are coming back in a big way this year. Restaurants and bars will be under financial pressure. But the demand for golf is just going to get greater. Are we re-thinking our model?      Three ex-golfers, two ladies and a gentleman, accompanied me on my version of 9-holes of golf over the holidays. I decided on each hole where we ALL teed off from. We never started more than 70 yards from a green. We never had a shot over water. We never had a bunker between the starting point and the green. They were allowed to take the ball out of the bunker and place it where they wanted. They had such a blast that they’ve played again twice more in the following 10 days. The one lady has played three times. She asked me to accompany her and two of her friends who live on another local golf estate over 9-holes at their course. She wanted me along so they “didn’t get into trouble playing this ‘new’ form of golf”.
