There is very little chance that functions are coming back in a big way this year. Restaurants and bars will be under financial pressure. But the demand for golf is just going to get greater. Are we re-thinking our model?

We’ve been trying to help you talk the language of numbers to your management or owners. If you had a group of 120 occasional members at risk of resigning, how many could you save, and what would that be worth?

There’s an additional benefit you’d deliver if you engaged with and cared for those 120 golfers. You’d not only increase the chance of them renewing a membership, but you’d almost certainly increase their visits to the club, their participation in events, and their golf spend.

If the average number of rounds each in that group play is 12, and their average annual spend is $ 1,500 per annum each, what do you think you could increase it by?

Could you double it? How much impact do you think you could have on rounds, visits, and spend of 120 occasional golfers? What would that be worth to your club?
