| | Three Local Juniors Punch Their
Tickets For DCP | |
Since the Drive, Chip & Putt initiative in 2013, there have been three juniors who have competed from the NENY PGA in the National Finals. Last weekend, at the Regional DCP Competition, nine juniors from our local area competed, and three of them finished in first place in their age division. They will advance to the Drive, Chip, and Putt National Finals on April 3rd, 2022.
Boys 7-9: 125 points - Mason Latorre, Nassau, NY
Boys 12-13: 145 points - Tanner Latorre, Nassau, NY
Boys 14-15: 167 points - *Brayden Dock, Queensbury, NY
*This is Brayden's second year competing in the DCP National Finals |

Next week the season-ending Tour Championship will be on October 5th-6th, where the top 20 professionals from the NENY PGA ROLEX Player of the Year List earn a complimentary entry and will vie for the last major ROLEX POY points, the Tour Championship purse, and the ROLEX Champions Cup Payout!

| | PGA REACH NENY Foundation
Establishes Scholarships | |
In an effort to recognize NENY PGA Junior Tour members and to assist them with their higher academic goals, the PGA Reach NENY has established two (2) scholarships of $2,000 each to high school graduating seniors in the memory of Doug Evans. All eligible junior tour members have been notified electronically of this opportunity and provided an application link.
Applicants must be members of the NENY Junior Tour for at least two years and attending an Educational Institution (University, College, Community College, Technical Program, or Certificate Program) in the fall of 2021.
The PGA Reach NENY and the NENY PGA Junior Golf Committee teamed up to promote the Doug Evans NENY Junior Tour Memorial Scholarship. Doug Evans passed away in the fall of 2020 and served as the NENY PGA Section's longtime Tournament Director & Assistant Executive Director. He was incredibly well respected among the NENY PGA Member Professionals, the local Capital Region Amateur golf community, and from all NENY families and juniors, having served the section and local golf body for just under two decades. Doug worked tirelessly on behalf of his fellow professionals, and one of his passions was serving and conducting the Section's Junior Golf Tour for our local families and junior competitors. He had an incredible way of sharing his knowledge, prowess for the rules of golf, and always an encouraging message to each junior. In 2021, the NENY PGA Section also established a Special Award to recognize the impact one individual has on our PGA Section - titled the "Doug Evans Distinguished Service Award."
The NENY PGA Section, along with Doug's family, Hilman Evans, and his sister, Cyndi Osborn & family, join together to keep Doug's memory alive with an endowed scholarship fund created from the proceeds of an annual NENY PGA Memorial Family Cup and other contributions. |
Congratulations to Jeff Estes, PGA Head Professional at Craig Wood Golf Course in Lake Placid, NY, who earned his Quarter Century mark of membership in October! Congrats Jeff!
