PGA of America Updates

Membership Year End June 30th

The current membership year, which started July 1st, 2021, will end on June 30th, 2021. In early July, there will be selected process performed as governed by the PGA Constitution and Bylaws, such as terminating Associates who are Unemployed, transferring members who unemployed grace period has ended.

Modification of Credits Needed for Election to PGA Membership

The PGA Board of Directors, at the recommendation of the Membership Committee, modified the number of credits needed for election to PGA Membership from 30 credits to 28 credits. The Board felt that with successful completion of the PAT, combined with the time on task spent completing the work experience activities and passing all the Level examinations, 28 work experience credits are sufficient for election to PGA membership.

As most Associates take more than four years to complete all requirements and elect to PGA membership, the reduction in credits to 28 is expected to primarily benefit those high achievers who have accelerated through the program. The adjustment equalizes the credit requirement between a graduating PGA Golf Management University Student and an Associate with a four-year degree.

PATS Revert to Pre-Covid Rules

Effective as of July 1st, Playing Ability Tests will be reverting to the rules for PAT’s pre-pandemic. All PATs should be played with the CDC and state and local health guidelines. Individuals experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should contact the PGA Membership office to reschedule their PAT.

Developing & Testing A-25 Classification

The Board approved a recommendation from the Membership Committee of the concept of providing a soft landing and continued affiliation with the PGA of America for those Associates who completed all PGA Education requirements and earned the 28 experience credits but have not fully passed the PAT. Individuals meeting those criteria will now have the option to transfer to the newly created B-25 Associate status at the end of their Acceptable Progress timeframe or be terminated from the Associate Program.

Those who transfer may pay National and Section dues and will have normal Associate rights and privileges. Failure to meet the MSR requirement will be cause for termination, and the individual would therefore need to re-start the PGA PGM Program from the Qualifying level. Accordingly, Associates can test out of Level 3 without having to fully pass the PAT. Notification to those affected will be forthcoming.

Let us know if you have any questions.

NENY PGA Purse Payments & Workday

Since the Workday go-live, PGAHQ uncovered an issue with the payment integration between Workday and JP Morgan Chase, which caused some checks not to be printed and some ACH payments were not processed.  Please note that this issue has only affected one payment batch for NENY PGA majority dated for 6/16 around the Donald Ross Classic purse payments and a few other miscellaneous check payments to vendors.

PGA HQ has been working with Workday and JP Morgan to determine the cause of these failed payments and to implement a solution that is now in place for future payments.  A few weeks ago (end of June), all payments in this batch were voided and reissued for all of the checks and ACHs impacted by the integration issue.

If you were affected or are still awaiting payment, feel free to contact Tracie at the Section Office. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
