Doug Evans Memorial Family Cup Recap
The NENY PGA Section administered our first annual Family Cup in memoriam of our former longtime Tournament Director, Doug Evans. The event had 14 teams/families participate in a fun, out-of-the-box team scramble that allowed for an excellent time for each on the golf course - from competitive, skilled golfers to brand new players! Check out the event activities/contests.
The event raised approximately $4,500, BUT there’s still time; if you couldn’t compete or would like to make a donation and contribute to the event’s cause in Doug’s name, you can still do so!
Making a contribution
All proceeds will be used to create and offer collegiate financial aid scholarships to junior golfers. Junior golf and personal and professional development were two of Doug’s greatest passions, and we’re looking forward to getting this off the ground in the Fall of 2021!
From last year’s memorial contributions and the Family Cup proceeds, approximately $13,500 has been raised, and it is enough to begin a few annual Doug Evans Junior Scholarships!! If you’re inclined to donate to the fund, you can do so below via check or credit card payment.
NENY PGA Professional Championship Rescheduled
Due to Hurricane Henri and its expected rain effects, the Section’s Professional Championship has been postponed. The National Qualifier was originally scheduled for Mon-Tues, August 23rd-24th and has been rescheduled and will take place on Mon-Tues, August 30th-31st, still hosted at Hiland Park Golf Club. The field will be vying for two qualifying spots in the 2022 PGA Professional Championship.

The NENY PGA Assistant’s Championship is open to NENY PGA Pre-Associates to compete in the local, national qualifier but would NOT be eligible to advance to the PGA National Assistant’s Championship. Pre-Associates should contact the section staff to arrange for entry.
