Influencing the industry to appreciate the power of engagement.

I have often heard the phrase “The PGA Professional is the expert in golf”. It is a very generic phrase and captures, I think, the concept that PGA Professionals can play many roles.

I have met a lot of PGA Professionals who’re very successful General Managers. They have high-quality administration and leadership skills or, in other cases, amazing interpersonal skills to go with leadership quality.

I’ve also met a lot of great General Managers who couldn’t break 85 from the front tees with many of those skills.

I’ve met a lot of good on-course retailers who’re PGA Professionals. But, I have to admit I’ve also met good retailers on-course who aren’t PGA Professionals.

I’ve played in hundreds of great events over the years. Many of them designed, planned, and executed by a PGA Professional. Some have been designed, planned, and run by golfers themselves.

If you had to describe what PGA skill you bring to your employer, what would it be, and how does that employer benefit? And does your employer understand how that skill translates into value for them?

Could you tell a great PGA Professional success story?
