We have all experienced a boom over the last 18 months. We must all act together to preserve the new opportunity for the golf industry.

The NGF has provided everyone with a clear description of the three planks required to retain the huge wave of increased demand for golf.

Professional improvement; connection to golfers and the Professional; and relevant playing experiences.

Those were actually the same planks required to reduce the tremendous levels of attrition we had pre-Covid.

If you look past your avid and serious golfers (those who play every day or have their Saturday tee-time every week), what percentage of your members or golfers are:

a) Investing in improvement?
b) Well connected to the golf team and other groups in your golf community?
c) Playing in events that match their experience level and offer them a fulfilling playing experience?

If you have more than 50% of golfers participating at your club who even tick one of those, then you’re doing well.

How hard are you proactively trying to ensure we have those planks in place to allow us to ride the wave?
