Spring Fourball Update
The Spring Fourball matches roll on. Several quarterfinal round matches are scheduled to be played this weekend. Also, teams that lost in the first round will be playing in their consolation flight matches.

The match of the week was the quarterfinal match between defending champions Steve Potter & Dave Riley and Tim Murphy & Tom Busa. Making the turn at 3 down, Tom and Tim battled back to even the match on the 14th hole. Holes 15 and 16 were halved with pars, but on the 17th, Dave and Steve went 1 up when Tom and Tim made bogey. Tom and Tim regrouped to win the 18th hole when Tim made a par/net birdie to send the match into extra holes. Extra holes soon became a marathon match that was not decided until the 5th playoff hole. With each player facing a 5 foot putt for par, Dave Riley was the only player to convert and send his team on to the next round.

Course News
With the warmer temperatures, the golf course is really shaping up. With the flowering trees in bloom, the course really looks special this time of year. Here are a few pictures I took on a recent trip around the golf course . . .

Flamboyant golfing legend Walter Hagen, a winner of 11 major championships was famously quoted as saying “You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way. ” (From the 1956 book, “The Walter Hagen Story”)

On your next trip around L.G.C. be sure to take the time to “smell the flowers”!

Regards,
Kevin
