Golf News The golf news of the week came from the U.S. Golf Association. On May 21, the USGA and the Royal and Ancient, the two governing bodies of the rules of golf, announced the adoption of Rule 14-1b which prohibits anchoring the club when making a stroke. This rule will go into effect on January 1, 2016, when the rules are next revised. There was a 90 day comment period after the announcement of the proposed rule change last November. There were plenty of comments and much controversy surrounding the possible anchoring ban. It is important to note that belly and long putters were not ruled illegal or non-conforming. It was the anchored putting method, the act of holding the club against the body to create a pivot point, that was banned. View the match play tree: Championship flight Consolation flight
May 27th (Memorial Day) – Pro-Am Best Ball, 4 man A-B-C-D teams.
June 2nd – Father Son/Daughter 12+ years A family day tradition at LGC.
June 8th & 9th - Men’s Senior Championship 36 holes of Net medal play in 2 divisions. 55-64 yrs and 65+ years. We also recognize a super senior champion who is over 75 years. New for this year we will be crowning the player who turns in the 36 hole low gross score as the LGC Senior Club Champion. We have never had a championship to identify our best Senior player, so adding this to the ranks of LGC Club Champions (Men’s, Women’s, and Junior) is long overdue.
June 21st & 22nd - Men’s 2-Day Member-Guest Invitations have been mailed and are available in the pro shop. Field is limited to the first 30 completed applications that are returned to the pro shop, so be sure to sign up right away.
Have a great golfing week!
Regards, Kevin
