Tournament Results The men’s 2-Day Member-Guest tournament was played last Friday and Saturday. With two days of just absolutely awesome weather, even those who may have struggled with their games had reason to smile. Flight Winners (with even bigger smiles): #1) Peter Donovan & Mike Mottola #2) Mike Keegan & Eddie Keegan #3) Steve Corr & Steve Thompson #4) Mike Amico & Rich Amico #5) Chris Manning & Barry Yaceshyn Flight runners up: #1) Chris Ouellette & Mike Curtin #2) Mike Rubin & Jeff Renton #3) Chris Messer & Scott DiMella #4) Tim Murphy & Marty Gorman #5) Chet Messer & Mike Pellegrini In the play-off for the Overall Champions, all the flight winners showed why they won their respective flights off the first tee. Although each team got off the tee in good shape, only 2 teams managed to find the green in regulation. The first playoff hole serves as an elimination hole. 2 teams are eliminated and 3 teams advance to the 9th hole where sudden death begins. Advancing, we had Mike & Eddie Keegan, Mike & Rich Amico, and Chris Manning & Barry Yaceshyn. The two teams, Corr & Thompson, and Donovan & Mottola, made a bit of a mess around the green and were eliminated. On the 9th hole, team Keegan found trouble off the tee and team Amico missed the green short right. Only Manning and Yaceshyn were able to hit the green in 2. After the Amico’s and the Keegan’s were unable to get up and down for their pars, a solid 2 putt par was enough for Chris and Barry to secure the Championship ... and a reason for an even bigger smile!

A scheduled small tine aeration was done on the greens on Thursday. This helps break up any thatch build up and will help get air into the soil. With a light topdressing and rolling, it will be hard to notice the aeration holes after a day or two.

June 29th: Skins Game Our annual Skins event. Gross and Net Skins. It only takes one good hole! July 4th: Mixed event Followed by our annual Clam Bake. Come celebrate Independence Day at LGC. Sign up on bulletin board. July 6-7: Mid-Summer Classic A member-member style tournament with a twist. Day one format is best-ball of the 2. The second day gets interesting as we play the challenging (and fun!) Chapman format. After both players drive, each player hits the other's second shot. After both second shots, the team decides which ball to play, and plays alternate shots into the hole. This format really puts players into places they are not accustomed to being. That can be good or bad, but is definitely good FUN! More info on the bulletin board and website. July 14th: Memorial Scholarship Pro-Am Our annual fund raiser for the LGC Memorial Scholarship fund. This will be the second year using the very popular Bramble format for this tournament. Last year we used format for the first time at LGC and everyone had a blast! Watch for the mailer. Information is also posted on the bulletin board.
