Tournament Recap Skins Event In last week’s skins event, we had 5 gross skins and 5 net skins winners. Gross winners were Mike Keegan-#9; Dan Brennan-#10; Dave Riley-#13; Tom Harvey-#17; and Peter Scully-#18. Net winners were John Flanagan-#1, #4, #10; Mike Keegan-#9; and Rich Picceri-#15. Winning in Skins is a bit quirky. You only have to have one hole where you put it all together to win. And that might not be enough if someone else has their good hole on the same one as you. Most of the skins this week were of that variety. Maybe not a particularly great round, but a round with one outstanding hole to win a skin. This week we had one notable exception to that. The round that John Flanagan turned in was nothing short of exceptional. John fired a career low (by several strokes) of 79. With his 24 handicap, for those keeping score at home, that would be and unbelievable net score of 55 !!! . . . and 3 skins! Congratulations to John and his SUPERB round! Keep up the great golf.
July 4th Mixed Event To steal a phrase from Glenn Frey and the movie “Beverly Hills Cop”, the heat WAS ON! With temps reaching the mid 90’s, everyone’s favorite hole was the watering hole behind the clubhouse. Staying hydrated was a must.
The winning score of 130 (-13) was turned in by Mike Champagne, Tom Harvey, Dianne Glennon, and Laura Wilczewski. Coming in 2nd with 137 (-6) was Brian Kenney, Sonny Scott, Ellen Kenney, and Chris Scott. Two teams tied for 3rd another stroke back. Dick Brown, TJ Lombardini, Mary Brown, and Sue Lombardini matched Dick Bush, Ken Nill, Sue Bush, and Gale Nill at 138 (-5). We were all then treated to a fabulous NE Clambake. Entertainment was provided by our very own Rich and Linda Picceri. A fun time had by all. | | Gary Foster is ready to pull the trigger on the 10th.

July 6-7: Mid-Summer Classic A member-member style tournament with a twist. Day one format is best-ball of the 2. The second day gets interesting as we play the challenging (and fun!) Chapman format. After both players drive, each player hits the others second shot. After both second shots, the team decides which ball to play, and plays alternate shot into the hole. This format really puts players into places they are not accustomed to being. That can be good or bad, but is definitely good FUN! More info on the bulletin board and website. July 14th: Memorial Scholarship Pro-Am Our annual fundraiser for the LGC Memorial Scholarship fund. This will be the second year using the very popular Bramble format for this tournament. In the Bramble format, all players on a team tee off, and like a scramble, the team chooses the best drive. From that position, each team member plays their own ball into the hole. The team score is the 2 best balls of the foursome. 80% of handicap is used for net scoring. Last year we used format for the first time at LGC and everyone had a blast! Watch for the mailer. Information is also posted on the bulletin board. Please support our scholarship fund. If you find you cannot play, please consider a kind contribution to the scholarship fund. Click here to download the registration form. July 15th: N.E.P.G.A. Junior Tour The N.E.P.G.A. Junior Tour makes a stop at L.G.C.
