A Tribute from the Club

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Greg Ellis-Williams, a long standing member of Randpark Club. We extend our sincere condolences and sympathies to his family and friends.

Food & Beverage

The F&B experience is a vital part of your enjoyment at Randpark and our goal has always been to deliver quality food, at the best prices possible. Amongst all the other challenges we already face, we are seeing the highest food price inflation in 14 months, with transport costs and fuel being the main reason for these increases, as the transport inflation jumped to 10.6% in April 2021. It is no secret that we have all seen these costs rising, in our homes, and I have added an extract from a recent article, which lays out the increases for certain basket items.

We are all subject to these price increases and, unfortunately, the club is not being spared, but we are also not giving in. We are constantly looking at our current offering and hunting for better pricing, without compromising on quality, and have made progress in recent weeks. We have particularly focused on the halfway house as a start and have adjusted the menu between “Classic” and “Gourmet” to ensure that there are affordable, easy meals up for grabs, but if you choose, you can enjoy something a bit grander. We are also making a few key changes to improve on our quality by making some items in-house. A great example would be our range of homemade chilli sauces. This is something that members enjoy and the bottles we purchase adds up to a big cost in a month. Having our own homemade chilli sauces will bring in some extra quality and members are welcome to buy some for home, on request.

We always see prices going up, which we unfortunately cannot avoid, but we don’t often show members that our prices are also adjusted down, from time to time, as we shop for specials or make progress with new suppliers for better pricing.

Farewell to Jacobus Oosthuizen

We are sad to say goodbye to our Golf Shop Manager, Jacobus Oosthuizen. It has been a privilege to have had Jacobus as part of the Randpark team over the past six years. He joined Randpark as a Golf Shop Assistant, was promoted to Range Manager and he then successfully fulfilled the role as Golf Shop Manager.

We would like to thank Jacobus for his commitment and dedication, which made a positive contribution to the Randpark Club and its members. We will certainly miss him, but would like to wish him well with his new ventures!

Jacobus’ last day will be Friday, 23rd July. All the best Jacobus!
 
 
 
 
 
 
CGGU/Randpark Open Foursomes

The Foursomes will take place on Sunday, the 29th of August. It will be a 36-hole Foursomes Strokeplay tournament.

Open to amateur golfers who are members of a golf club affiliated to GolfRSA.
This event is limited to 44 pairings (88 players) on a first come first serve basis.
Players must enter in pairs, which can be male, female or a mixed pairing.
Firethorn morning field and afternoon field.
Morning field: 06h46 - 08h30 | Afternoon field: 11h22 - 12h50 off both tees.
Entry fee: R840-00 per team.

Any cancellations/withdrawals after the closing date will not be refunded. Players who have any of the Covid-19 symptoms on the morning before play or any time leading up to the event, are obligated to inform the Union and withdraw from the event. In this case, the entry fee will be refunded.

Mom’s Night Off Specials this coming Tuesday

Sit down or take-out from 5 pm to 8 pm (take-outs must be ordered with your service host)

Minestrone soup, served with toasted ciabatta – R25
Crumbed Pork Chops, served with creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables; accompanied by an apple sauce – R95

You can also order your club-favourites from Monday to Saturday between 11 am and 7 pm and Sunday between 11 am and 4 pm for take-away collection.
