Harry has been at BSI since the start of 2021, refining and honing his skills to prepare himself to take on the European circuits. Read below how Harry began his journey to BSI: | “Back in the UK, I was stuck at home with the golf courses closed because of COVID-19 lockdowns. My dad and I started the hunt to get me to play golf somewhere around the globe. With the current golfing talent emerging from South Africa, it was a no brainer that South Africa would be the best choice for my development. My dad has some business partners in Johannesburg. They recommended Balderstone Sports Institute as a great place to go for both the structure they have in place, with at least two competitive rounds each week, along with mental coaching, golf specific physical training and technical golf coaching, along with the fantastic training facilities and the world-class Royal Johannesburg and Kensington GC. After a few phone calls back and forth, I was on a plane headed down to Joburg. Once I arrived, the warm welcome that I received from all of the staff at BSI made my transition to South Africa all the more easier. Everyone was there to help me out with anything that I needed. For the first few weeks my game was a little rusty to say the least, but with all the help from the coaching team, I soon started posting some scores that I was more than happy with. Just the amount of golf that is available to the BSI athletes makes it impossible not to improve. My mental game is by far the area that I have most improved on. Mark Fairbank and I have been doing some great work and gradually ironing out the creases in my game. The exercises and the continuous support that Mark provides is priceless. When I arrived at BSI, my handicap was 4.2 and now closing out the year, I am a +3, which by far exceeded my expectations coming into the year. Through the year, I have made some great friendships with a lot of the other players that are on the same path as I am. It is easier to make friends and bond with each other when you all have a common goal and all have the same mindset. This year has been great, I have played more golf than I could have ever imagined, it really has been a blast. Next year, I will be returning to BSI for the first couple of months in the year and working heavily with Mark Fairbank in preparation for the Euro Pro and Challenge Tour Q schools later in the year. BSI has been the most ideal place to get me settled in and comfortable here in South Africa, enabling me to play my best possible golf this past year. I have come on in leaps and bounds as a player on and off the course. Gaining more experience as a golfer and as a person. I thank all the staff at BSI for everything that they have done for me this year and I cannot wait to hit the ground running when I return next year.” | | Harry Llewellyn | | Kids Holiday Golf Camp – 7 to 9 December 2021 | Say yes to more greens and less screens this holiday | | Bring your kids to come join us during their school holidays for a fun 3-day golf camp.
