Congratulations to Christopher Wright who has been promoted to Head Coach at the BSI Golf Academy.

Christopher spent 5 years training and studying at BSI from 2007, graduating with his PGA Diploma in our class of 2011.

After experiencing Sunshine Tour Qualifying School in 2012, he spent 5 years coaching at various facilities, including Country Club Johannesburg.  Christopher returned to BSI as a coach in January 2017, and has developed into a highly knowledgeable and sought-after coach.  His new role includes overseeing the coaching team from a technical aspect.

BSI Premier Division 18-Hole Medal

Well done to Jacques van der Merwe and Gilbert Chalwe for their joint win in the BSI Premier Division 18-hole medal with scores of 2-under par, 70 on Friday 17 February at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington GC - West Course. Gilbert, from Zambia, joined us at the beginning of the year on our PGA Diploma program, and has shown that he is someone to watch out for.

Jacques now leads our Premier Division Order of Merit and Gilbert is the early frontrunner for the Premier Division Rookie of the Year Award. Keep up the great work gents.

We also had Personal Bests from; Gilbert Chalwe 70, Chang Sung Nam 75, Danny Chelogoi 79, Etienne Bedeker 81, and Cade Goodgall 87.

BSI Junior Academy 18-Hole Medal

Congratulations to Lefa Maseng and Tawriq Abrahams, on winning the BSI Junior Academy 18-hole medal. Both students finished the day on even-par 72, played on the West Course at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington GC on Friday 17 February.

We also saw Personal Bests from; Tawriq Abrahams 72, Kaiden Chetty 73, Thomo Mokgatle 85, and Bryce Mogridge 86.

 Pirie Cup

Good luck to our Junior Academy golfers, Eric Ncube, Antoni Theron, Connor Olfsen and Kaiden Chetty, competing in the High Schools Pirie Cup played at Pecanwood Golf Estate on 23 and 24 February 2023.

 Alumni News

Congratulations to PGA Diploma class of 2022 graduate Divan Visagie who is heading off to United Arab Emirates to take up a position at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club. Divan will be leaving ERPM GC at the end of this month, where he was pro shop manager and also took up the duties as Golf Director.

In only two months of his PGA graduation, Divan has shown a meteoric rise in his career and we wish him all the best in his future.

SA Women’s Amateur Championship - Mount Edgecombe CC

Well done to Stacey-Lee van Gent who finished T6 in the Silver Division of the SA Women’s Amateur Championship played at Mount Edgecombe CC.

Samantha Conradie finished 65th in the Gold Division.

Sunshine Tour SDC Open – Zebula Country Club

Well done to BSI Mental clients Keagan Thomas and Jacques Kruyswijk, who both finished tied 46th on the Sunshine Tour SDC Open at Zebula Country Club

South African Stroke Play Championship – Mount Edgecombe CC

Big shout out to 1st Year PGA Diploma student Martin Papworth who finished T50 and Junior Academy student, Grant Labuschagne who came in T63, in the South African Stroke Play Championship played at Mount Edgecombe Country Club Estate – Lakes Course.
