 Spending time with Professionals and General Managers over the last two months has brought home how under-resourced our industry is; and you bear the brunt of that.

We believe passionately that the PGA Professional is the answer to the challenges the industry had with numbers pre-COVID, and those challenges, despite the round numbers you’re seeing today, will not have gone away.

But the fact is that many of you outside of the US, are tied to shops that demand so much attention, without the resource on hand to free you up to spend time out on the golf course. You’re flat out running your operation.

In the US, so many of you are linked directly to the operation. You’re required to make sure that the operation runs perfectly; bag drop to the beer afterwards; with a consumer that expects better and better service each year. You’re flat out running your operation.

If you look at successful businesses outside of golf, they have operations; but they also have successful business development function(s) of some sort.

Operations isn't going to go away; and those working in operations don’t have an extra hour or day or week to give. So how do we solve the problem of business development:

a) Accelerating the acquisition of new golfers while:
b) Reducing the attrition or loss of those we do have; and
c) Actually, increasing the rounds and spend of those golfers.

I always take suggestions!
