If you want something to improve, then something needs to change.

The impact for you could be bigger than you think

If you’re initiating innovations to improve the playing experience that will help us do a better job of retaining golfers who’ve returned to the game as we come out of COVID restrictions, then you’ll please the bottom half of the pyramid.

After all, what’s the difference?

The difference between a golfer playing only occasionally and one who’s dropped out of the game is very little. One could argue that the occasional golfer is often just waiting for their excuse to stop playing.
The benefits of retaining not just the returning golfer, but also the lower half of the pyramid, are enormous to everyone in our industry.

David Ogrin, an accomplished ex-tour player, and PGA coach, recently posted a profound message:

“Create a play environment they enjoy.”

The reason Professionals like David, and also Dee Forsberg, are heroes of mine, is that they embrace the challenge of that very simple strategy. It might set them against the establishment at the top of the pyramid, and they probably won’t get enough recognition from those who lead our industry, but they will create a very loyal following of golfers.

“Create a play environment they enjoy.”

Yes, David. It is that simple. And just how many of your members or the golfers who visit your facility will benefit, if we can get better at that?
