Great weather for much-needed course maintenance

I can't believe that we have gone more than 1 week without rain. We have seen so much rain this summer that it's hard to believe that we have gone a week without. It certainly helped the course to dry up and for us to continue with some much-needed maintenance work on the course. Not only did we start to catch up with our cutting work, we have also managed to do some bunker work and to fix some of the damage that the rain and course traffic caused in December and January.

This last week we also started with some course projects and over the next weeks we will look to complete the following:
  • Laser level tee boxes
  • Building an additional red tee box on the 7th hole
  • Drainage on the 7th hole
  • 7th hole tee box, laser level and drainage
  • Drainage on the mashie course
  • Additional red tee box on 17th hole
  • Drainage project on the 13th hole
  • Paving work and planting sods on run on and run off areas

As you can see, there is quite a bit of work we need to get through.  The good weather is definitely helping so we should be done with these in the next couple of weeks.

  Congratulations to our Open winners

This last Sunday we hosted our annual San Lameer Open. Conditions were tricky as we had a 4 club wind blowing that kept players guessing throughout the day.

The A division played 36 holes and Gavin Sole came out top with a 72-73 to win his 12th San Lameer Open title. Gavin is a fine player having represented KZN on various amateur teams.

I would also like to congratulate all of the other winners in their respective divisions. Well played and see you again next year.

I would also like to congratulate Jean-Marc on his first hole-in-one on the day. He made his on the 16th hole; below is a video of him ringing the bell for a round of drinks.

  Make golf your Valentine
  Fall in love with golf

Valentine’s Day might be about celebrating romantic love, but we think it’s also a great opportunity to fall in love with golf.

3 Reasons to love golf

Quality time
What’s better than a few hours sharing a common passion with the special people in your life? It could be your partner, children, grandchildren or friends, or all of them.

Self-care
Aside from the fact that walking 18 holes burns over a thousand calories, you’re also out in nature, unplugged from electronic devices and away from notifications, news feeds and stress.

Eternal hope
You could hack through the rough on your way to the green, but save a shot by holing a 30-footer and it was all worth it. There’s always the next shot, the next hole, the next round to look forward to. There’s always a chance something special could happen.

What will you experience?
• Gains in distance that only a mainframe face designed by Ai can give you.
• The impact on power of a driver with two ‘flex’ zones to increase rebound speed and therefore ball speed.
• Noticeable improvement in forgiveness in high and low contact on the face.
• A clubhead you get back to the ball, square at impact more often.
