 Final Year PGA Student Spotlight

As we start our final Cycle for the year, it is always a slightly sad time at the Academy. More than 30 months ago, we first got to meet our final year PGA diploma students and it is nearly that time for them to graduate. Many will take on a new chapter in their lives. We will be highlighting our 3rd Year PGA students in the next few months and hear from them about their time at the Academy and what their plans are after graduation.

Our first student that we are spotlighting is a man with great culinary talent but an even better aptitude for the golfing industry. Let’s find out a little bit more about Daniel Macdonald:

BSI: How did you find out about BSI and what has been insightful for you, doing your PGA diploma?
DM: I found out about BSI from researching different institutions. BSI has helped create and cement the belief that I belong in this industry and for future goals, given me new light to new adventures.

BSI: What have you gained the most over the past few years and how will this benefit you?
DM: As an individual I have gained confidence to get in the positions I need to be in, through working in the pro shop at Huddle Park GC and working directly in the golf industry for the past two years. I have been able to increase my network and build new relationships for my future.

BSI: Any strong friendship bonds built and a sense of family amongst peers, tutors and coaches?
DM: Good friendships have been made. BSI has a family feel which makes you feel welcome no matter who you are.

BSI: Where too after graduation?
DM: I would like to continue working in the industry and have already been offered a full-time job when I graduate. I will also join the PGA and later would like to do an internship in the USA.

BSI: Any special moments during your time at BSI?
DM: The BSI Charity Golf Day, that we, as 3rd Years organised as part of our practical experience, was a highlight to me. I got to see our hard work pay off with smiles and knowing that the funds raised went to the right people made me feel special.

Thank you, Daniel for the taking the time to catch up and we wish you all the best in the years to come.

Daniel Macdonald
